16. i have two pit bulls and they would never hurt a kid!!! they are NOT bred to FIGHT you IDIOT!!!! GO READ A BOOK MORON!!! EDUCATE YORSELF b4 you make an IDIOTIC COMMENT that can easily be contradicted. i usually don't get so upset when i read negative comments, but rhat has to be one of the most ignorant statements I have ever read on here (#15)....you obviously do not know anything about dogs and even less about pit bulls. I rescued my female pit almost two years ago ---I had found her in a trash can, beaten with her legs tied together. Since I have had her she has done nothing but love anything and everybody she meets. When a kid comes up to her to pet her she will roll on her back to show submisiveness. She would never hurt anybody-she doesn't know how-----even after her painful past she doesn't have an ounce of aggression in her.

18. p.s. comment #15---i bet you didn't know that it was a PIT BULL used in the classic movie 'The Little Rascals'.........ya, he really hurt those kids in the movie. I bet you wouldn't even know what a pit bull looks like.
I think you need to do a whole lot more research before you start calling people "Dumba$$es" on a subject you clearly know very little about.

24. Any dog that is treated poorly can be agressive and the last time I checked, it's the way the dog is raised that determines how it will interact with others. There are good dogs and bad dogs of all breeds. Blaming the breed is stupid and uneducated. It's true that some dogs have been bred to fight, but that does not a bad dog make.

25. WOW ... # 24 does it just make you fell better to say someone is uneducated..It seems that is the regurgetated word for the moronic Pit lovers on this board... You have them so you love them so you get all defensive and svream my Pit Bull ain't mean ... I agree with #23...Pit Bulls were raised to be aggresive animals period. It is in there now in there makeup. I am sure some of you have your sweet little pits at home but these animals are much more likely to turn than other dogs and the list goes from worst to not so bad. I simply think its a stupid decesion to put your child in a home with a dog more likely to turn. In most cases you are takeing a chance with any dog around a child ... But a Pit Bull? Please re think your decesion.

27. Pit Bulls can be great animals. However, it is usually the owner who is the moron. I have 2 dogs, a 120lb doberman, and a 70lb shepard mix. I go to my local dog park almost everyday. I've seen alot of Pits and most of the time they're great dogs. But, the Pit Bull has one major flaw that can be dangerous. If a Pit bull gets into a fight with another dog and locks its jaw onto the other animal, sometimes even the Pit itself can't unlock its own jaw. I have seen this happen more than once. I was at a dog park in Claremont, Ca. when a Pit bull and a Labrador went after each othe over a ball.(They both started the fight) The Pit had a hold of the labs collar, and couldn't let go. The owner of the pit was doing the right thing by picking up his dogs hind legs so it would let go. The idiot owner of the lab, freaked out and started punching the pitbull in the face. The owner of the pit was yelling at the owner of the lab, just pull your dog away. I ran over telling them just throw a bucket of water on them, that will stop the fight. But, some other idiot grab a man's cane and started beating the pit. Bye the time I got there, the pit was able to get his jaw unlocked, and it was over. People that get pitbulls should have to take classes on how to handle these dogs. They can be loving and affectionate animals. But, if you have an idiot owner. Some teenager who wants to be cool, then you can ruin the animal and make it dangerous. Pitbulls should be on a low protein diet with a excellent brand of food. Dog food is VERY IMPORTANT in a dog behavioral make up. Crappy food can alter a dogs personality. Case in point, A friends pitbulll mix named Bella, would always get into fights. The owner would have to leave the dog park all the time. He finally would only go to the park if hardly anyone was there. We talked briefly about the crappy food he was feeding her, and the effect it can have on a dog. He switch his food on my recommondation, and two weeks later Bella was a different dog. He could stay as long and he wanted, and Bella no longer fought. Superman.

30. your logic is similar to that of Jim Crow. I suppose you also think we should start banning ALL African Americans from living in neighborhoods. You know, because we always hear about all the crime they cause on our evening news. While were at it, round up all Hispanics, 18-38 yr old white men, catholic priest, gun owners, anti-social teenagers... GET IT? a small percentage of the individuals that fall into these groups commit violent crimes, same adheres to Pit bulls. While they are occasionally raised to be aggressive and sometimes used to fight (because of their popularized reputations), the vast majority are well raised family dogs. Your belief on this matter has the same mantra that the Nazis and racists used. I am not equating you to either, but you must not condemn all in spite of a few. Any individual dog may be a good, loving pet, even though its breed is considered to be potentially dangerous. A responsible owner can win the love and respect of a dog, no matter its breed. One cannot look at an individual dog, recognize its breed, and then state whether or not it is going to attack.
