If I read one more ignorant comment about how Obama is a “Socialist” and that he “palls around with terrorists,” I’m going to write my congressman asking for legislation requiring people to take the same citizenship test that people are required to take when applying to become a US citizen; they’d have to pass it before they could register to vote. Did you know that they actually polled a number of people at Palin rallies? Most of them couldn’t name the three branches of the US federal government, let alone how each of these branches actually works. The ignorance in this country is appalling.

48. To Kevin – 43: Sorry, but that is nonsense.

It may surprise you to know that many people are pro-choice but not “pro-abortion.” I’m pro-choice, but not “pro-abortion.” I only support abortion in the early stages of the pregnancy, and only after the woman has been counseled on other options she has available to her. I am vehemently opposed to abortion during later phases of pregnancy and partial birth abortions, unless it is incontrovertibly performed to save the life of the mother. So that makes me, by definition, “pro-choice.” It has to do with my belief of when the fetus becomes human life; it’s based partly on faith, and partly on the science of biology.

Same goes for those ignoramus' who voted for Obama. A poll was done on camera as they were leaving the voting booths and they couldn't identify who Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank were or what ACORN was and some unbelievably didn't know Biden was the running mate for Obama. But when asked who had an unwed pregnant daughter they all shouted out "Palin, Palin" while making faces and rolling their eyes. It was classic liberalism at its best. Thank you, drive-by media.

51. Actually, Obama garnered 66% of all college graduates. Hardly the "ignoramus" you describe. I also saw a poll of those who were questioned leaving an Obama rally; they were able to answer the questions better than those leaving the Palin rallies. The poll you speak of was performed by Fox News, and the questions and answers were somewhat different from what you describe. You can't blame "liberalism" for the ignorance in this country.

I agree, Although Palin has political savvy and is superb at speaking talking points written for her on the campaign trail, she has definitely proven that she has little interest, intellectual curiosity and knowledge about the world around her; either nationally, or globally. But these are the kind of people she appeals to. She couldn’t begin to hold her own in a serious conversation with any leading politician or interviewer/journalist. The way she presented herself during the campaign, and her vituperative comments at rallies, were not in the least presidential. In the final analysis, McCain’s choice for Palin as VP was an insult to the American people. Had McCain handled his campaign differently, and not behaved so erratically during the advent of the financial crisis, he just might have won this election. He was not the intelligent choice.

And this episoe is disturbing because there are people even on this very board that say crazy things like, "I hope life imitates art". That is a disgusting thing to say.
