17. Hey Lucy, ignorant rednecks? That sounds like a sterotype to me, sterotypes would fall under ignorant as well wouldn't they?! Sure, Avery is an idiot who should keep his mouth shut but that's not hockey's fault. There are a lot of well respected hockey players who do a lot for their communities. Every sport has their fair share of jerks, come to think of it the other sports stars I have heard about lately that have been in trouble have not been hockey players. Call Avery an ingnorant redneck but lay off the sport in general.

19. This a JOKE. The NHL has a problem with Avery and everybody knows it. Other players have done much worse in hockey and nothing happened to them. Avery, if Dallas doesn't want you anymore, come back to the RANGERS.

21. Does anybody remember the whole Todd Bertuzzi mess, he almost killed another player with one hit, ended his career and was only suspended for 1 season. Sean Avery ran his mouth about his ex and gets suspened indefinately. That's just wrong. Sean Avery isn't the reason the Stars suck this season. Maybe if Turco would spend more time working on his sorry game and less time bad mouthing his teammates they might not be the bottom dwellers that they are.

25. Sean's a really good kid who likes to live on the edge. He is exciting to watch and a lot of people who would never watch hockey are interested in watching because of him. When he was in NY, I started watching the Rangers again, who I haven't even thought about since '94. Now that he's gone, they're completely boring again. ITS HOCKEY, MAJOR TRASHTALKING AND FISTFIGHTS GO DOWN EVERY SINGLE DAY. If anyone else had said this it wouldn't have even made it to the press. Just because it's Sean and everyones watching his every move, this becomes a big deal? Give the guy a break, the league was just waiting for an excuse. I think what he said is quite funny and actually TRUE.

26. Reading these comments, it seems that no one remembers the other stupid things Sean Avery had done. Disrespecting officials, racial slurs and the list goes on. There is no room in hockey or any other sport for jackass' like this. Being an avid hockey fan, I hope I never have to see this guy again. 29. I think this is a horrible, offensive display of power by the National Hockey League. Since when has this man, or any of us, for that matter, given up our 5th Amendment RIGHT to FREEDOM OF SPEECH. The tabloids can print all kinds of crap about anyone and this man, who had a history with a particular woman, cannot make ONE COMMENT, or two, three or four, about a woman who in his opinion is "sloppy seconds". This is a disgrace to THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and he should SUE the NHL for breeching his 5TH AMENDMENT RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH. The NHL should be fined for breaking the law by taking his FREEDOM OF SPEECH RIGHTS AWAY.
