Her Breakout Role
Looks like performing every night on Broadway has made Katie Holmes really sore!
We know how Tom Cruise feels about prescription drugs, but does Scientology have anything against taking Abreva®?!

16. Sad. I figured she was a virgin before she married Tom and became a robot. LOL. So, did he give it to her, or did she have it before?

17. Gee...up here in Canada...you can buy Abreva for about $20...chump change for Katie! As long as she applies it AS SOON AS you feel that tingling sensation...Katie should have caught that yucky herpes in time! Other remedies she could have tried was...Men's Cologne applied with a Q-tip...freeze it with an ice cube...some people even use their own ear wax!
So next time, Katie feels a sensation like never before...it is NOT the work of Scientology. Abreva please! :)

19. This is news? Somebody has a cold sore?

20. Stress triggers outbreaks and so can colds and flu. I think they used to call them fever blisters as well as other things. Poor Katie! I know they can be very painful and embarrassing because my mom gets them really bad. I hope she does give Tom oral sex and give it to him on his peenie. We'll see how he feels about prescription drugs then! The alcohol is a good suggestion, and peroxide applied several times a day works well too.

22. People that are grossed out by a cold sore should know that they probably have it running around in their body some where but it is suppressed by their immune system. The kicker is, I think you can still spread it if you are not showing. The percentage of people who have it but don't show has got to be in the 90% range. We probably have lots of viruses running around our body's that are suppressed but if our immune systems get weakened by stress, booze, lack of sleep, etc...boom, it comes out to say hi, lol.

23. Here's the real scoop on cold sores/fever blisters. Even though they are transmitted orally (kissing, oral sex, etc.), most people get them as small children when their immunity is weaker and a well-meaning relative with the virus (sometimes unknowingly) kisses the child lovingly and innocently. Now the child has the virus and will either get outbreaks or may not. Like Katy, I too was exposed to the virus as a small child and has constant cold sores like what we see on Katy. Now there is a WONDERFUL drug called VALTREX (no, I do not work for the company). At the very first onset of symptoms I take two of these magic blue pills and more often than not, I do not get a sore. In fact, I've had so few cold sores in the past many years with this therapy, that I almost forget what it used to be like to walk around all winter looking like Katy does. Please someone...tell this beautiful woman to get a Rx for VALTREX and to be very careful with kissing Suri when when has one coming on and throughout an outbreak.
Now you know!

26. Agent Smith-good, someone who explained the virus well. Cold sores are simply a herpetic lesion that lie dormant in most (you were right, about 90%) people's systems-some may never have an outbreak and others may suffer with outbreaks for years. Chicken pox and shingles are also herpes viruses and some doctors feel that there's a relationship between cold sores and people who've had chicken pox or shingles.True, kissing and oral sex can pass the virus to others, but other factors can also cause an outbreak-like agent smith said. Too much exposure to the sun as well as stress to the lip (such as having dental work done) can also trigger an outbreak.I got real educated when my boss of 29 years - a dentist - had to quit dentistry due to a cold sore.Doing an emergency root canal on a patient with a very active cold sore, there was splash back of water spray (he had safety glasses on but no side panels so the contaminated spray reached his eye). Within three days he had a herpetic lesion to his eye. After three failed corneal transplants, his eye was finally removed and he had to retire. So, yeah, they're extremely dangerous.I wouldn't wish a herptic virus on my worst enemy after seeing what my boss went thru - so think twice before some of you make jokes about hoping she passes it on to her husband. No one deserves that, no matter how much you dislike him.By the way, we're all potential recipients - how about someone with a cold sore opening a door moments after having touched the cold sore - then you come along, touch the same doorknob that was just contaminated, and reach up to touch your eye and voila - contamination. Scary, huh.

27. "Are Cold Sores Another Name for Canker Sores?
No, although these sores are often confused for each other, they are not the same. Cold sores, also called a fever blister or herpes simplex type 1, are groups of painful, fluid-filled blisters. Unlike canker sores, cold sores are caused by a virus and are extremely contagious. Also, cold sores typically appear outside the mouth – usually, under the nose, around the lips, or under the chin while canker sores occur inside the mouth."

28. Wow, this string is the best education I've ever received and it's from TMZ. Go figure ! I always thought since I've never had measles, mumps or chicken pox that I didn't have the virus in my system and couldn't get a cold sore. Now I want to do the Howard Hughes thing and use a kleenex on every doorknob. YIKES !

29. Definitely gross...but cold sores don't just get passed sexually. You can get them from sharing the same drinking cup with someone else who has one that's active (meaning an outbreak). All it takes is the transmission by the fluid.
That's why so many people have them.
Abreva is nothing against them...Denavir is the best thing out there. Gone in 4 days.
