Joe Plumber - McCain Made Me Feel "Dirty"

How John McCain could make anyone feel "dirty" is beyond us, but that's what Joe the Plumber is alleging today.

In an interview, as Politico notes, Joe Wurzelbacher says being on McCain's bus made him angry and some of the discourse "appalled" him. He says he felt "dirty" after "being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place."

The unlicensed plumber adds, for good measure, he thinks Barack Obama is "dangerous" and Sarah Palin is "the real deal."

46. Joe the Plumber was not asked to be put into the spotlight...he simply asked a reasonable question during the election to a candidate...this does not give the media, people working for the government or anyone else to pry into his personal life...can't help that all you left wing liberals are jumping on the "change" bandwagon....come on how much is Obama really changing by appointing mostly Clinton era cabinet members....when the economy, employment rates and cooperation from other countries does not improve don't cry because this is the "change" everyone wanted....Sarah Palin is the real deal....TMZ you complained about the turkey being killed but how many of you ate turkey for Thanksgiving.....how do you think the turkey got on your plat?!?

47. VOICE OF REALITY--by taking away the right to life, we have negated the other two rights. abortion destroys that first, inherent right. I believe in abortion reform in that women with medical emergencies, women who have been raped, or pregnancies caused by incest should be the ONLY times when termination of the pregnancy is deemed a necessity. 'pro-choice' should mean CHOOSING to be responsible when you have sex...you make your choices then, not once you've gotten pregnant. a human LIFE is not a choice. women used to be treated like property, and now they're allowed to treat their CHILDREN like property to be disposed of at whim? abortion is damaging to both mother and child.

49. 13. Joe was thrown into the spotlight because he asked Barack Obama a question, thats it. So the media put it upon themselves and went through this guys background, credit and personal property. It was the media that put Joe in the light, not Joe. Its a sad day when an American can not ask a Presidential candidate a question without all hell breaking loose. As for McCain, it was his advisors that made him look bad. McCain really did have America's best interest in mind. He just had different views then Obama supporters had.I'd feel dirty too being thrown into politics this election year. And I do think Joe is right about Palin, she IS the real deal.I like all of the politicians this year, even Clinton. We had the best selection possible..

No, Joe wasn't scrutinzed by the press until McCain mentioned him specifically in the debate with Obama and used him as an example of someone who allegedly would be hurt by Obama's proposed tax program.

Thousands of people asked Obama, McCain, Biden, and Palin questions in front of the press throughout the campaign, and few, if any, received any scrutiny at all.

In other words, the only reason for Joe's fame is because the McCain people decided to make a campaign issue out of him, and they picked someone who didn't turn out to fit the image they were painting of him.

50. So Gina, you would be in favor of ohhh say a 'one child law' .. ? I mean do you think this planet can just keep supporting an endless population of humans? What a great solution, instead of telling people they can't have an abortion lets just say they can only have one child! Problem solved. ..no? Or at least you must be in favor of Welfare and support programs for children.... I mean being so concerned for every 'life' out there. And I'm sure you are against the death penalty as well, being so concerned for the 'right to life' .. or does that only apply to embryos??? Because I mean what is the sense in forcing a woman to have a child that maybe unwanted, or maybe she finds herself actually unable to care for a child, just to turn around and force her to raise that child in poverty ,knowing his/her child will likely have limited chances of a good quality education, only to then turn to crime and end up in jail.

51. My cousin and her husband have fostered over 20 kids in 25 years. She has seen it all - fetal alcohol syndrome, sexual and physical abuse, neglect, kids left home alone at age 3, 10 year olds raising 3 or 4 younger siblings. I think there would be ALOT more of that if Roe v Wade was repealed...I sure hope Gina has adopted or at least fostered a few of these unwanted kids, otherwise she is a hypocrite. Get out in the real world and see a few of these kids, then preach about abortion.

52. Barack Obama dangerous? He's probably one of the least dangerous people in America. Please. Give it up, Joe, and just go away. McCain lost, so go home. And Palin is the real deal? Are you kidding me? My thirteen-year-old niece could do a better job of being President than that moron. Palin is just plain stupid and I would move to another country if she was in control.

54. Poor Joe... That "question" he asked was a setup anyway, and Obama's only mistake was assuming that Joe was asking a sincere question and really was thinking of buying a two-man plumbing business that somehow managed to clear a profit of more than $250,000 per year. Joe didn't know anything about business and certainly didn't know anything about how taxes are calculated. For instance, if the upper tax bracket begins at $250,000, only the excess profit above that amount is taxed at that bracket's percentage. Profit is what's left after business deductions, so Joe the Plumber would have to gross at least half a milion or maybe 3/4 of a million to have a profit of 1/4 of a million.

Such a fuss over tweaking the upper tax brackets, which change practically every year.

55. Gina, an abortion debate is basically a dog chasing his tail. This I will ask though. Since you seem to be a conservative republican, if I am wrong I apologize. Given that you are then you would be in favor of smaller government but just not in this case. Now you want government interference in the rights of individuals. Where does it stop? You say the preservation of life should be the main concern. Where is that concern when discussing the death penalty? Where is that concern for government involvment when people are dying becuase they can't afford medicines and treatment? If there is a right to life and you feel that it is the governments job to protect it then why not protect all of life.

Joe the Plumber was not put into the spotlight until John McCain mentioned him in the debate against Barack Obama. In that debate, McCain specifically referred to Joe the Plumber as someone who would be hurt by Obama's tax proposals, and that is what brought national attention and press scrutiny to Joe. In other words, it was the McCain people who decided to make Joe the Plumber into a campaign issue.

Thousands of people asked difficult questions to Obama, McCain, Biden, and Palin, and most, if not all of them didn't get scrutinzed by the press at all. The only reason that Joe got so much press attention is because the McCain people decided to thrust him into the public eye in order to use him.

Too bad for McCain and for Joe, the Republican operatives didn't check out Joe's background before trying to make him famous as a poster child for the campaign, and this ended up blowing up in their faces when it came out that he was misrepresenting himself and that he didn't understand his own tax situation.
