Thank you TMZ for posting the warning that this would be difficult to watch. I have not watched it, nor will I. I can't handle stuff like that. I just appreciate your taking the time to warn me before I would have watched and been revolted. You guys rock!
OMG that was awful....my head said dont watch it but i did it anyway....how painful that must have been....it just like swung around when he kicked him.....terrible
I love the UFC!! Holy crap I thought last night's arm break was bad. EEEKKKKKKK. These fighters are amazingly strong, if you don't follow the sport you just have no idea.
The shin is one of the hardest weapons in your body. The elbow is in that same class. When his leg broke, it was because the other fighter 'checked' his kick with his own shin. That's like slamming two baseball bats together. And by looking at the size of his legs it was bound to happen sooner or later. If you've never checked a kick or thrown a proper round house, you have no idea how powerful it is.
To the people who are talkin sh!t about the fighters continuing to fight...NEITHER FIGHTER KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. Watch it again. When dude's leg is broken, he falls to the ground and is trying to submit the guy on top. He's still fighting with a broken leg!! The guy on top didn't know what was going on either. It wasn't until the fight was stopped and he looked over and saw the broken leg that he realized why the fight was stopped. Same thing for the fighter on the ground. It's called adrenaline....it will mask the pain.
Good Post Cage Fighter. One other reason for this particular injury: Cory Hill is 6-4 and 155 lbs at weigh-in!!! In order to keep that kind of low body weight (along with the temporary but sever dehydration) he has to have extremely low body fat (under 3%) and even low muscle weight particularly in the legs. Add to that a diet required to maintain this low level of muscle and fat weight, which he is at least 25% below what is normal for a 6-4 trained athlete (about 210+), WILL deplete bone mass. So no cushion (low fat) weak support (low muscle) and light structure (low bone mass) can equal this kind of result.
Well said Thor. There is more to this sport than people punching and kicking each other. And, if you check the history,it's MUCH safer than boxing or any other contact sport. Plus, fighters have longer careers than your typical contact sport.
Neither one of these fighters knew what happened until after the fight was stopped. So people please..don't start throwing out the barbarism comments until you know the whole deal.
27 years ago my sister had a similiar injury and I've never forgotten it. I was the first one to get to her and even though no skin was broken, I could tell her ankle was no longer attached to the rest of her leg. Images like that never leave you.
Best of luck on his recovery. Ouch!
I was looking forward to seeing the Cory Hill fight and was disappointed it was not televised. I wanted to see how Hartt dealt with the reach disparity and if Hill was going to show signs of being physically weak at this weight. I hope he recovers soon and rethinks his weight class!
It's one thing to drop down in weight to 'attempt' to be dominating...but it's another thing to abuse your body and rob your power to do it.
Britney Spears might miss a lot more 'X Factor' auditions ... because she can! Simon Cowell gave Brit damn near free reign in order to sign the pop star to that $15 million deal -- but is it backfiring? We'll tell you what peeps on the set are saying.Plus, Chris Jericho's…
