32. While I realize this is a culmination of a lots of things, the comment he made should not be a deal breaker. A lot worse has been said and done.

The good thing is that this brings much-needed press to the NHL. Not good press, but overall people find the story amusing.

34. I don't follow hockey so I am assuming that this was probably the last straw type of thing. But if nothing else, it just shows that he has no class. A comment like that is so high school. Grow up and act like a man, not a boy.

36. I am quite sure most of the people saying this is too harsh don't understand hockey at all. These players are expected to be model citizens. When they're teenagers and playing on semi-pro teams or even community teams, they're being groomed to become professional players. They're required to wear full suits to and from each game, including the time when they're making appearances.

Calling Elisha Cuthbert "sloppy seconds" was in no way model citizen-speak. While I may be a bit bias, considering I live in Calgary and cheer for the Flames, I do know right from wrong, and what he did was wrong. There would be a lot more outrage if he was let back onto the Stars. It's a non-issue. End of story.

37. He deserves every bit of what he is getting. Avery has gotten away with too much for too long. The NHL was just looking for something to punish him over. Good luck to Avery...no team will want that cancer in their lockerroom.

38. Sean Avery is a tool. I don't think that what he said was so bad BUT when you combine this with EVERYTHING else he has done while in the NHL, Its surprising he could even attract anyone like Elisha in the first place. or Rachel Hunter. the Stars will be a better team without him sucking up all the air there.

This is so stupid i cant believe you people actually think its ok for someone to be fired over something like this no matter what hes done in the past.

42. I think this situation was very similar to the Vick suspension and jail term. It was more about a pattern of bad or in Vick's case illegal behavior than just the current incident.

43. 20. Sean Avery is a douche. His punishment is not because of Elisha-Gate. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. He told the owner of the team and the PR guy that he wouldn't be speaking to the media. He then told them to turn their cameras on because he had something to say and let his verbal diarrhea spew.

His on and off ice behaviour is crude. He had a recent altercation with a woman in the stands at a Bruins game. He was let go by the Wings because of his lack of respect. He's alleged to have made racist remarks on the ice. He went on record stereo-typing French-Canadian hockey players. He was suspended by the Ducks. He's also alleged to have gone after Jason Blake's cancer diagnosis on the ice at a Leafs game. He waved his stick around the head of Marty Brodeur during the playoffs. He's a notorious diver and a turtle. He's a disgrace to the game.

44. What Vick did was a crime and i think hes getting away to easy if hes allowed to leave early because he plead guilty to state charges, so he can go live in a halfway house. How can you compare the two?

45. The Dallas Stars are overly thinned skinned aren't they. Sloppy seconds is kind of crude but lewd is a bit of a stretch. I guess they never attended little league hockey game and listen to the what the parents are yelling to the kids. With the Dallas Stars attitude they would probably ban the parents for life. If they didn't want Avery on their team I'm sure they could have traded him away. Avery is a choir boy compared to Pacman Jones of the DALLAS COWBOYS. I guess the STARS draw a higher class of fans than the COWBOYS.
If Avery is disliked by everyone in the league then he will get his due on the ice. Is his ex- girlfriend related to a Stars official?
