Aboriginals PO'd at Nicole for Blowin' Big One

Nicole Kidman should know better: She's from Australia, and she just made a film about the birth of Australia.

But the Aboriginal population -- indigenous Australians -- are hootin' mad at Nicole for blowing into a didgeridoo on a German TV show. Aborigines forbid women from playing the didgeridoo and are warning Kidman, who just had a baby, that she could be rendered barren as a result.

Not to mention that her effort on "Wetten, Dass?" was considered "feeble."

16. I keep reading that Nicole Kidman is American. Nicole is Australian and says she is an Australian. Her Australian parents lived in Hawaii for a short time and Nicole was "born" there, but just because you were born in a particular country does not mean you carry the name of that country. However, I do know that Nicole has dual citizen ship with Australia and the USA simply because she was "born" in the USA and her dual USA citizenship came naturally.
If a person was English, and happened to give birth while traveling in China, that does not mean the child is Chinese! There is a GREAT difference as to where one was born and what their nationality is.

17. Perhaps Nicole was not aware of this rule and if so, that was rather irresponsible for someone from Australia making a movie about Australia, but that would still be a mistake. She could apologize.

On the other hand, if she was aware of this rule, then I do find it disrespectful that she did this. Again, an apology is in order, either way, then everyone should go about their business.

18. All I want to know, is why the movie 'Australia' was promoting a video for the Polygamist cult that was raided earlier in the year on you tube...The setting looked like it fit real good though, in that context, and was well intended.

Maybe the Aboriginals need to evolve, and their views on women are a sign for their hardship? Maybe like a spiritual one???

-and with all due respect to religious traditions and all, letting kids drink blood from the body cavity of a barely killed kangaroo is kinda, well gross. I'd be less worried about a lady playing a digery-doo (?? sounds Indian, right?)

19. All Australian kids play the didgeridoo at some stage. I was, and I was encouraged to try it by an Aboriginal leader and I'm a chick and I'm white (though race shouldn't really be the point).

And it's Aborigines in the title. Aborigine is the noun and Aborigines is the plural - Aboriginal is the adjective.
