"Price Is Right" Miracle, Drew Couldn't Care Less

One of the most unbelievable things ever happened on the set of the yesterday's "Price is RIght" -- some dude nailed the price of his showcase to the exact dollar -- and host Drew Carey couldn't have looked more bored.

The Price is Right: Click to watch
No one has pulled off an exact bid in more than 30 years -- plus, the dude had already won $500 in cash for nailing the exact price of a cooker earlier in the show -- but after the showcase stunner, Drew was more fired up to talk about spaying and neutering pets.

A TMZ spy who happened to be in the audience during the taping says when Drew knew the guy hit the exact number, he stopped down taping and had a pow-wow with show producers for nearly 30 minutes. Our spy thinks they were trying to figure out how to handle the situation on camera. Unfortunately, when they resumed taping, Drew's reaction was a little less than spectacular -- while the crowd went insane.

Maybe in another 36 years, he'll show a little more excitement.

121. I saw this episode and I almost fainted! and yeah Drew is lousey on this show- he is so boring and acts like he'd rather be somewhere else on every single show!

122. "10. I'm sure Drew would have been more excited if there were a giant sandwich or a free dinner involved".

HAHAHAHA this really made me "LOL". Sad thing is, it's probably true! hahaa.

But yeah, Drew has gotta go! Booooring! I'd rather watch paint dry!

123. Well I have watched PIR for over 30 years. My record was 33 days of it when in the hospital. The show kept me sane.

Anyway, I admit that when Drew was first announced I had questions. He did not seem a good fit for the show. But now I think he is doing fine.

Remember, he had a pretty hard act to follow. Barker's style is what everyone was used to and any replacement would be compared to him. I can't think of anyone who could replace Barker, no one.

I suspect it will take a long time for people to forget Barker and get back into the game rather than comparing subsequent hosts to him.

I do admit, Drew had a hard time at the beginning, finding his groove, learning how to do things and what not.

But compare his first shows to how he does now and he is obviously improving.

And most important, I am getting used to him and his routine.

As to this exact price, I don't think he got excited because he was too shocked as the rest of us. It's one thing to guess an exact price of "even money" such as $23,500. But to guess $23, 543 seems impossible.

In any event, I don't know that in the 60 seconds that Drew has to wrap up the show that he has time to stray from the format. They cram a lot of info in the show's final segment. And I guess he is under a death threat from Barker if he does not get his spay and neuter message in. :)

124. If you know that there is a possibility that this guy had the info fed to him, watch his reaction(s) through this clip. It seems pretty contrived. Like opening a Christmas present when you already know what it is but don't want the giver to know you know ... I'm just saying ...

125. I saw that exciting moment on The Price Is Right on Tuesday! I couldn't believe it either! In 28 years of watching Price Is Right, I've never seen a contestant bid the showcase right on the nose! There were difference of $2, $5, or $8 before that I saw but never -0-. It was a very mediocre showcase to me with the trailer and the ordinary prizes, but that man's exact bid of $23,743 was remarkable. And Drew did look surprised. He should have had a joyful moment congratulating the man for winning it right on the nose! THIS is how you play the game, not goofing around, thinking hard and picking the right bid for the shcwcase! I'm tired of $20,000 differences and embarrasments every time that they put a boat or a trailer or a luxury car in showcases. This fellow had his game on!

126. BORING AND UNATTRACTIVE=DREW CAREY. I WATCHED TPIR FOR MANY, MANY YEARS AND WON'T WATCH IT NOW BECAUSE OF DREW CAREY. TPIR NEEDS A HOST LIKE DONNY OSMOND TO PUT SOME EXCITEMENT AND ATTRACTION BACK IN THE SHOW.

128. #26 Lana
I could not agree with you more. Bob Barker was a great host and he has retired. There is not comparison. Everyone has a different style and you cannot expect Drew to be a carbon copy of Bob. I wish him well and he is doing a good job. Hang in there Drew!

129. Also...while I have no idea if it could have been rigged, it's far from "impossible" to guess exactly right (like some people are saying.)

Most people can reasonably narrow it down to a $15,000 or so range (and usually even closer than that with a lot of the showcases.) But even if you use a 1 in 15,000 chance of guessing exactly right....which is probably a little high.....that show has been on for over 5000 episodes now with two bids on each one.

So, it was about time for someone to guess exactly right (based on pure chance) anyway

130. Drew is great. They changed the way they did things in the past. If you know Drew you know he has a dry sense of humor and a strange delivery but very talented. As for the guy guessing the price exactly is kinda fishy. If he did it honestly great job to him but if not he should be sued and prosecuted.

131. Barker is not replaceable so, Freemantle made the best decision: aiming for an audience younger and contemporary with Drew; he is cool enough to be the new show's leader. A sold-on-Barker fan, I wondered at the new emphasis Carey epitomised and after a long consideration period, I believe S.B. & Co. did the best, smartest and right thing by choosing D.C. Of course B.B. is always in mind from 11am to 12am but I'm 68 and can read the handwriting on the wall. Thanks, Freemantle.

132. Too bad the announcer Rich Fields wasn't given the job. He's been there a long time and knows everything about the program and would be perfect. I think he should take over as host of The Price is Right.

133. I'm laughing at the idea of a "TMZ spy". What need would there be for a spy for a public television show that anyone can sit in the audience for that has several people who produce web pages that talk about each taping in great detail. Please.

Any long time viewer of the show knows they reuse prizes all the time. Also the idea that some people have about an understanding that he might get one price right but not two just shows how unintelligent many people are about math, statistics, etc.

The show wasn't rigged... there's no pay off in that and people who are comparing to the game show scandals of this 50s clearly don't have any idea what those were about, how they worked, or what the backstory was about those scandals.

I'm choosing to ignore all the Bob v. Drew comments. You see this sort of thing anytime there is a change in the actors/host in a long running show and/or show that has a very devoted fan base.

134. Hmm, i saw one episode with drew on internet, i`m not from USA so i don`t know exactly how it looks like, but i think he was better in Whose Line, "Price Is Right" is not good for him.

135. you're all nuts.Drews doing a great job.and if you really watched the show .drew gets more excited than the contestant most of the time. btw the only other name to come up for the job was rosie PUKE. nuff said!
