President Bush also has a background of cocaine use and alcohol abuse, as do his daughters. It's just like a previous poster wrote-drug and alcohol abuse is not restricted to "left-wing nutjobs", "white trash", hookers, African-Americans, Native Americans, Hispanics, poor people, etc. It hits both sexes in all income brackets and social classes. I do agree that it is not appropriate to associate what this woman did with Bristol, Sarah or even her son.

Well I'm sure if they were paraded around the DNC like these poor kids were put out at all of the rallies, it would be all over Fox News. It is news because the grandmother of Bristol Palin's kid got arrested for drugs. Had they kept things private, I'm sure it would be a different scenario. However, trying to marry off your teenage daughter because it is better for you politically is the reason why this is considered a "story" and won't go away.

71. The bigger question is which comes first - wedding or birth. Will we have another waif supported by tax dollars most of their life through welfare followed by the legal system (jail) or will they become honest decent parents that raise children that will amount to something? Even though they didn't plan on it (or much else) they will be setting an example that countless young people will follow for years. It would be nice if the set a decent one.
And before everyone screams, go read the statistics on children of single mothers versus two parent households. You might get a surprise.
