Big Babies Banned from Obama Inauguration

If you planned on taking a chair or a stroller to Obama's swearing-in on Jan. 20 -- think again.

Officials are saying "safety first" as thermoses, coolers, backpacks and signs also won't be allowed along the parade route -- but it's the chairs and strollers that are causing a big fuss.

On the bright side -- there won't be a lot of babies crying when the oath is administered.

46. DEAR TROMBA..

As A Response to your comment...

"He is Hitler is disguise." Please compare and contrast the characteristics of Hitler and Obama so that we can be as paranoid as you.

WHO AM I??
I was raised in one country but my father was born in another. I was not his
only child. He fathered several children with a number of women.
I became very close to my mother because my father showed little interest in
me. Then my mother died at an early age from cancer. Later in life,
questions arose over my real name. My birth records were sketchy and
no one was able
to produce a reliable birth certificate.
I grow up practicing one faith, but converted to Christianity because this
was widely accepted in my country. But I practiced non-traditional beliefs and
did not follow mainstream Christianity.
I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult before I
decided it was time to get serious about my life and I embarked on a
new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who read
my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned me as
a child.
I became active in local politics when I was in my 30s and then burst onto
the scene as a candidate for national office when I was in my 40s. I had a
virtually non-existent resume, very little work history, and no experience in
leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful speaker who
managed to draw
incredibly large crowds during my public appearances.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country's foreign policy. I
was critical of my country in the last war. But what launched my rise to
national prominence were my views on the country's economy. I had a
plan on how we
could do better. I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this
mess.
Mine was a peoples campaign. I was the surprise candidate because I emerged
from outside the traditional path of politics and was able to gain widespread
popular support. I offered the people the hope that together we could change
our country and the world.
I spoke on behalf of the downtrodden including persecuted minorities such as
Jews, but my actual views were not widely known until after I became my
nations leader. However, anyone could have easily learned what I
really believed
if they had simply read my writings and examined those people I associated
with. But they did not.
Then I became the most powerful man in the world. And the world learned the
truth.
Who am I?

Answer: ADOLPH HITLER

47. This is ridiculous! If Palin and McCain had won, It would be preposterous to ban strollers considering she has an infant. The world has gone mad!

48. southern belle and scared4america - no one reads long posts, sorry...
mayu - the tickets are FREE...
And if anyone in American govt is Hitler-like, it is definetely Cheney and Bush. Over 1/2 million dead, innocent Iraqi civilians, sounds like mass murder to me, courtesy of Cheney and Bush. How do they sleep at night??
Honestly, you sound like idiots to say that Obama is a "baby killer." For those so concerned about abortion, I hope you have gone out and adopted a few of the thousands of unwanted kids in this country or you have fostered a few dozen, otherwise SHUT UP!! Practice what you preach.

49. God forbid the American people be allowed to exercise their First Amendment rights.

Probably best to not allow signs or let people express themselves - that might lead to people thinking for themselves or getting the crazy idea that American people shouldn't have their freedom taken from them, or be spied on without cause by their government.

Best to just give people the ILLUSION that they have freedom.

50. Is he going to prepare his own meals and have a taste tester too? Obama is a wimpy chicken.

51. For Get Real..

I absolutely read both southern belle and scared4americas posts! I found them quite informative, well written, and telling.

And in regards to those killed in Iraq, I have only two points... 1). What exactly do you expect in the outcome of "war"? And two,.. those deaths could easily have been here in our homeland, and you give zero mention to our own soldiers whom have lost their own lives fighting for the country that have no problem bitching about?.. as a matter of fact you apparently have forgotten all about 9/11, and how many americans were lost in that horrific crime? The posts by southern belle and scared4america were points and opinions being made.. in your own post I distinctly read anger, frustration, and mere coldness & disregard?

But then, that is just MY OWN opinion isn't it?..

In regards to Obama, my opinion seems to run along the same lines as most of those posting here. A repressive country will merely boil to a breaking point... political correctness has taken the place of freedom of speech. And we all know how only positive words should come from our nations media in any regard of our "President Elect"?

52. For those of you who say that it is impinging on our freedoms to not allow certain items into the inauguration need to be reminded of something. In the post 9/11 world, some of our civil liberties (i.e. right to privacy) may have been impinged upon to protect us, but most on the political Right and many on the Left agreed with the Patriot Act for that specific reason: it protected us. That is just what is going on here. All necessary precautions are being taken because it is in the best interest of the nation to protect ourselves and the president-elect. As was stated, it's only a matter of safety.

53. Can I just say to the person who said that people shouldn't have the right to take their small children everywhere is a complete idiot and I am very offended by that comment. I am a mother of a 3 month old and trust me I take her everywhere and she is the best little girl ever. I love this age because she is so portable and so it doesn't take much effort to take her places. She still sleeps a ton and doesn't bother anyone. Even when she is awake or grumpy I still don't get people acting all pissy with me because I took her somewhere. Even non well-behaved kids have a right as a citizen of this country to go places too. In case you didn't realize we have a bad economy and not everyone can afford daycare and not everyone qualifies for the already overly abused government assistance. I personally am a stay at home mom because my husband makes more than enough to support us and I decided to go back to school to get my Masters. What makes a person think that just because a person is a child that they do not have the same rights as an adult. I mean obviously they can't go into a bar or something like that, but a politcal event, a restaurant, or another public place/event. Excuse me, but I will take my child wherever I want. I have no desire to attend the inauguration even if I were able to travel to, but if I did I would consider taking my daughter and just carrying her in my baby carrier.

54. I worry about some racist pig trying to assassinate Obama. And not with a shoe.

I think this move is smart.

57. They cannot CONTROL or DISCIPLINE their kids anymore

Posted at 8:04PM on Dec 21st 2008 by Pink Parasol

Well, thank God we now have Obama to CONTROL and DISCIPLINE our snotty-nosed little kids (and us). Watch your mailboxes in January. I fully expect to see a phamplet with a list of do's and don'ts for us to follow while he is in office. As for no children at the inauguration, I tend to think with all the screaming, weeping and fainting that will be going on in that mass of humanity, you would not hear a baby cry. Could it be dangerous? Sure. It's going to be dangerous for everyone. Our children are always in danger from something. What is the cut-off age? Parents should be allowed to decide for themselves if they want their children to attend.

58. John, Southerne Belle, and scared4america well said! The media and every liberal out there gave Bush hell for 8 years and now we are supposed to be nice and all get along, yea right, we will voice our disdain for this fraud of a president the same way you all did. I didnt see any of ya'll wanting to get along when Bush, Cheney, and our fine military were fighting terrorist that Clinton had the opportunity to but he was to busy with his cigar!! Bush kept this country safe after 9/11 and don't go blaming him for 9/11 after Clinton had Osama handed to him on a platter. And all the people posting on here about snotty nose, crying brats definitely are not parents and I hope you never breed because you will never know how hard it can be so if you do have kids just ask the "messiah" for help.

59. It's not about the babies, it's about the strollers. Strollers have gotten so large - they're like mobile baby-entertainment units. More pockets and compartments, much wider, and all sorts of bags and food and toys and blankets... They take a lot of space, they are security hazards because of all the nooks and crannies and they are a pain in crowded situations. Carry your baby!!
