Obama's Final Farewell to Grandma Toot

Barack Obama and his family held a memorial for his grandmother yesterday in Oahu, Hawaii.

These are photos of Obama scattering his grandma's ashes in the sea. Madelyn Dunham, whom Obama called "Toot," died just days before he was elected Prez.

46. The media is turning this man ,Who we pray is our new hope, into another celeb. He's not.He is our president . Should we not treat him as such. You do not and never have seen past presidents on gossip mags! He is the president of the United States , Give him respect and privacy, Let him lead, not turn him into something the rest of the world leaders will laugh at and not take seriosly!! OUr last hope , Our future, not the face of TMZ

47. I have a brother-in-law that works for the secret service and trust me, if Obama didn't want these pics taken, they wouldn't have been. This is just a great photo op to show how caring and loving he was toward his grandmother. LOL

48. 12. I don't know how much ole toot weighed but with the wind blowing in off the ocean I would venture to say, none of the ashes hit the water.

Ummm..... if you look at the pictures you can plainly see the wind is at their backs. (Hint: Look at the skirt)

49. Again, people do your own investigation and google whether it is legal or illegal to dump ashes in the ocean. If you took the time and research you would find out it IS NOT ILLEGAL to dump ashes in the ocean. Geez..Many of you are too lazy to do your own thinking and thus reprints what some other idot said. Others, probably know the truth but use every opportunity to discredit him. REVELATION: The man knows how to "BRUSH IT OFF" and, second, I thought that he reads TMZ blogs, and most importantly, you can hate all you want but HE IS IN. Stew on that.

50. Someone asked if it is illegal to dump ashes in the ocean. Well, moron, obviously you are at a computer. Google and find out yourself. How dumb.

51. I think these pics are beyond horrible. EVERYONE has a right to privacy, I don't care who they are. I just had to scatter my dad's ashes in August and it was one of the most emotional things I ever had to do.
Have some respect TMZ. We may be checking with you for the gossip and "news" but the lines need to be drawn sometime.

52. I would hate to be the people taking these pictures. Federal charges sucks and good luck to whatever happens to them. If anything I guess this proves how easy a scope on a weapon would be to use and secrete service better step up their game.

I don't like this guy a bit but those people taking is pictures are advertising assignation and don't even realize it. Like him or hate him I would still hate to see anyone killed. This isn't Paris shank Hilton, smart moved would be to back off.

53. TMZ would do well to recite facts. Toot died on the eve of his election. She died on November 3, not DAYS before he was elected President. I agree, he is to be respected and left to his charge. Whatz in our future TMZ? Vag shots of Michelle as she exits a car? Private family moments? Obama has a love child?

55. I'm not a supporter of Obama but I respect him as our new president and as a fellow human being. What a total lack of respect, taking pictures of this wonderful private moment in his life. I sure hope some kind of law is pasted soon regarding this lack of human respect to people that chose to work in the public eye. I shocked that it hasn't already.

56. #44 Whose brother-in-law I doubt works for the Secret Service; well, maybe cleans their offices. Photos are taken at 911 Memorial Services, Veterans Memorial Service, and the King Family have been placing wreath yearly for their parents, which is always photographed. Point: the media covers EVERYTHING regarding high profile people. Also, people pass funeral services everyday, why should this one be hidden. A lot of the comments seems to be front mariginal thinkers.

57. aint no way a body makes this many ashes. This is becoming a joke.

58. It is ILLEGAL to dump human remains. The President elect is caught on film committing a CRIME! Wonder if anyone will do anything about it?
Oh wait, he is exempt.

59. I am all for President-elect Obama being treated like a rock star, but it does seem disrespectful for such a private moment to be publicized. Scattering a loved one's ashes should be s solumn, private moment, it seems to me, unless otherwise directed in a will.
