Oprah Fooled Again by Fake Love Tale

Oprah Winfrey called Herman Rosenblat's tale of how he met his wife in a concentration camp "the single greatest love story" she'd ever heard. Only problem -- it isn't true.

Rosenblat, who survived the Holocaust as a young boy, had written a memoir telling the story of meeting his wife of 50 years when she was a farm girl who tossed apples over the fence at a concentration camp. Then, claimed Herman, he met Mrs. R. 12 years later on a blind date. Well, lovely though it was, the story was made up, and now the memoir is being yanked -- and Oprah is once again red-faced over a story she championed very publicly.

Oprah gushed over James Frey's alleged memoir "A Million LIttle Pieces," only to find it was faked.

76. When Oprah receives a book that is marketed as a memoir then she takes it that it is a memoir. She is not publishing or proofreading these books she's reading them after they've already been published.

77. You guys talking about Obama and Oprah are ridiculous! There is no scandal on Obama and Oprah got tricked because the people who distributed the book didn't do their job validating it. Many of you hate these two because they're successful African Americans and it makes you feel bad. You know why? As much scandal as Bush and his daddy have been around, and the way McCain (your so called maverick) left Sarah Palin hanging out there (he said he would not support her running) I thought she was the best? And Palin said earlier in the year any woman who doesn't vote for another woman should go to hell.(yes, she said it) You guys need to just accept the fact that there are some black people out there doing good just like some white people. And if you don't like the way it makes you feel, change your thought process and come up higher intellectually.

78. I personally could care less about Oprah and what book she likes. The sad part is how much weight people put in her opinions. She is a highly successful ENTERTAINER! That is all she is, she does not know more about politics or books or diets or love or mental health than anyone else. So PLEASE for god sake stop making decions based on what she thinks. Use your mind, educate yourself, and make good decisions. This is not a bash on Oprah, i am sure she is a nice person and is deserving of her success, it is a bash on those who follow her every word without thinking for themselves.

As for the fake memoirs, it is too bad that people feel free to make up whatever they feel like and call it 'their story'. Last time I checked 'novel' was not a four-letter word.

81. Oprah is the Head of her Corporation, and as such bears the weight of any errors , incurred by it. She hires, retains, contracts----- she pays the salaries. She delegates. She oversees. If a mistake occurs, that is Her mistake. She is reponsible. She takes the Glory for her Empire ....she can take the Blame. This is the 3rd time that she has been bamboozled. More The Fool ...her. The molestation/assault scandal at her School for Girls...well.........that was a major incompetence & negligence. Oprah, is not the brains behind her corporation.........but even that can go awry when led by a fool.

82. Let the anybody out there to be the first to cast the stone who has never been fooled by anyone. I suppose you guys get of on the Jerry Springer show!!!!! Oprah has changed many peoples life. She isn't God and has never proclaimed to be.

I guess you would have preferred to have John McCain to become president so that you could loose your house and your job!!!! Give Obama a chance. How could it be any worse than what the Bush govenment has done. America did not have a deficit but now thanks to Bush we are a trillion in the red!!!!!

84. Maybe if more people read AT ALL, we wouldn't have so many people in this country who can not spell properly or use correct grammar. Wheather the book is fact or fiction, I am sure it was injoyable reading.
This blog started about a book and a "hoax". So many people have made this political. I am 100% positive that Mr. Obama had nothing do do with the book or the hoax, so how did he get brought into this again? Oh, yes, all the people who feel that Oprah was duped by him too. Hmm. I did not vote for the man, however, I will give him a chance. What choice to I have? I voted therefore I have the right to complain, BUT, he hasn't even taken office yet and everyone has written him off as the worst president ever. How is that possible? Am I afraid for the future of my family and country? Yes, but I can only do what I can do and deal with the rest. If he is the worst thing ever, so be it, but let him hang himself. Don't write him off with just public opinion.

86. I think it is hilarious when Oprah gets caught up in anything! She can always buy her way out of whatever mess she ends up in. And I'm certain she is the multi-million dollar back-up plan for Oblahma in all his attempts to keep only the "good" word out about himself. It's not just a questionable past and questionable associations I have noticed about this man, it's all the fluffy news about him- like he's "spotless" or something?? What else scares me, is the masses of people that seem to flutter to him, practically falling on bended knee to "worship" him? THAT is truly terrifying! And a few posts ago a couple of people were talking abou the "Bush Government" now turning to the "Obama Government"? Least you're beginning to notice a difference between the two!! (freedom vs. socialism). And to those complaining about the shape this country is in.. get a clue! It isn't George Bush' fault!! You want to be fair about it, it ALL POLICTICAL FIGURES FAULTS!! We didn't have this mess when President Bush took office.. this mess BEGAN a short few years ago when the DEMOCRATS controled the Congress! Spending isn't the "republican plan".. it's always been the "democratic plan".. and to spend more than you make is just plain stupid! (for the record I am not republican, democrat, nor independent,.. I am NO PARTY).

P.S. This election was "affirmative action" government style. The lesser qualified black man got the job. This wasn't an election process at all, .. it was an "HISTORIC MOMENT".. Stupid young people wanting to "make history" as opposed to putting an experienced and deserving military man in the captains chair!! (hey it's my opinion- like it or not --DEAL with it)

90. This story was also in a "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book which was done way before Oprah's story.
