Police Investigate Jett Travolta's Death

UPDATE: 11:50 ET. We've learned John Travolta has made arrangements with a funeral home in the Bahamas to ship Jett's body on Tuesday, presumably to Florida. The autopsy will not be performed until Monday morning.

Sources at the Freeport Grand Bahama Police Department tell TMZ the Serious Crimes Section is conducting an investigation into the death of Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, but cops don't believe any crime was involved.

A detective tells us the investigation is being run out of the Central Detective Unit, Serious Crimes Section, because of the high profile nature of the death.

We're told it is still an active investigation and the time line may be important in determining cause of death ... specifically, Jett was last seen going to the bathroom on January 1st, yet his body was not discovered until 10 AM the next day.

It is unclear if Jett fell and then had a seizure -- or if a seizure caused him to fall.

17. If the son died from a seizure was he even on medication to prevent them in the first place ? Scientology might have taken yet another victim who refused useful medication on religious grounds.

18. Some of the people making comments on here are just crazy... Talking about what time they saw Jett. Well, I have a 16 year old and there are many times I don't see him for hours on end. If he tells me goodnite & he's going to bed & then takes a shower... so be it. I don't have to know eery move he makes in our house. Our house is big enough to where I wouldn't hear him fall in the shower if he did. Also, your beliefs are your beliefs, don't knock John & Kelly for theirs. We all lie our own lives with our own way of doing things. If they want to follow a certain way of living and lifestyle, let them and let them be. Some times accidents do happen. The story says they say him on Jan 1st... it doesn't say what time they saw him. And 10:00 is not late for a 16 year old boy. Believe me. We don't know the whole story and really it is none of our business. Let them be. Let them mourn the death of their son, Let them love and remember their son.

19. This is standard procedure but not something worthy of being a news story. Let the police do their jobs and give these people some privacy. Put yourself in their shoes TMZ and stop acting like you are doing things for the public.

20. to #4 I think it is so disgraceful saying if the kidd is severly retarded - it is mean..try using special needs...really whether you give a damn or not. Having worked with individuals that have special needs is rewarding. They can do similar things we can do- they go at a different pace.

21. Kelly was married before to Kevin Gage. I've read they had a son together. Does anyone know where the son lives now? Does Kelly have contact with this son?

22. I echo a question running through these posts. Was he on medication for epilepsy? That is probably the most important learning from this event. I hope someone will or maybe has reported on this. Unfortunately death is not an unusual consequence of epilepsy. Aggressive medical therapy for difficult cases can be helpful

23. #4 you are very sick, to say that is just heartless. I lost a child at the age of 13 from heart problems and the pain is something you feel you will never get over. It dosent matter if a child is mentally disabled or healthy, the pain will always be there. And the ones making comments like why didnt someone check on him, he is 16 years old, he probably said he was going to take a shower and going to bed and as everyone knows kids that age sleep in and 10am isnt that late to check on him. And scientologist do believe in medication. So please for the sake of the family stop speculating and making hurtful comments, please show some compassion for the pain they are going through. My prayers are with the Travolta family.

24. The people posting negative stuff is because we want to see these people held accountable. We arent blinded by them being famous or rich. Shouldnt Jett be important enough not to sweep this under the rug? To get the real truth? I dont give a damn about John and Kelly. What's important is a boy is dead and it might have been prevented.

25. That is exactly what I think happened. He said goodnite, went to take a shower or a bath and then was going to bed. He wasn't a little kid so they didn't check to see if he was in his bed that night. Why would they? He told them he was going to bed.

Once he didn't show for breakfast, someone went to check in on him and they found him in the bathroom, unresponsive. They said John tried to give him CPR, but he was dead already. If he was dead already it explains the delay in the time from when they found him to when he was taken to the hospital. They wanted some time alone with him to say goodbye, no rush if he was dead already.

Scientoligists DO believe in medical care, doctors, etc. They just don't believe in drugs for depression. This child did not suffer from depression. NONE of you know if he was on any sort of medication for anything. You all are just trying to make a scandal so you have something to post about.

Bottom line, the kid died at a very young age. The parents found him, which is very tragic and thier lives will never be the same. Where is the compassion?

26. It's terribe and should be a crime that he was denied medication for seizures.

27. Is it just me, or are the Bahamas a good place to commit crime and get away with it?

28. There is no crime. The kid fell and hit his head on the bathtub. You think this was planned? Give me a bresk.
