Police Investigate Jett Travolta's Death

UPDATE: 11:50 ET. We've learned John Travolta has made arrangements with a funeral home in the Bahamas to ship Jett's body on Tuesday, presumably to Florida. The autopsy will not be performed until Monday morning.

Sources at the Freeport Grand Bahama Police Department tell TMZ the Serious Crimes Section is conducting an investigation into the death of Jett Travolta, the 16-year-old son of John Travolta and Kelly Preston, but cops don't believe any crime was involved.

A detective tells us the investigation is being run out of the Central Detective Unit, Serious Crimes Section, because of the high profile nature of the death.

We're told it is still an active investigation and the time line may be important in determining cause of death ... specifically, Jett was last seen going to the bathroom on January 1st, yet his body was not discovered until 10 AM the next day.

It is unclear if Jett fell and then had a seizure -- or if a seizure caused him to fall.

76. If you look at the video of Travolta and his son in Paris it is obvious something is wrong. JT and KP are "leading" the boy out of the hotel. Both parents are holding his hand and the boy looks dazed. How many 16 year olds hold both parent's hand? This boy was sick in my opinion.
The caretaker, who some believe is JT's boyfriend, was no doubt in charge of watching the boy. There will be hell to pay there. Very sad....all of it.

77.
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the Bible prohibits eating blood, and that this includes the storage and transfusion of blood, including in cases of emergency.

78. Oh for pete's sake. 16 year olds are not infants who need 24 hour supervision. It's very plausible that someone saw him enter the restroom the evening of Jan 1, said good night to him (or whatever), went to bed, and then didn't think to check on him till 10 a.m. the next morning.

Was he supposed to be in a crib next to his parent's bed or something? C'mon.

79. It's so sad that all of you on here are making assumptions about this family! I have read in the messages that he was autistic, mentally retarded, and had Down Syndrome! None of you lived with or even knew this family! They just experienced a tragic loss and all you people can do is put them down! My thoughts and prayers go out to this poor family during their time of tragedy!

80. Poster 68--I stand corrected, It's the JW's that aren't down with the transfusions, not Mormons. Innocent mistake.

81. This is tragic, but if any good can come of this poor boy's unfortunate death, it is that maybe it will help to expose Scientology as the dangerous cult that it is.

82. wonder if this child was ever seen by any medical experts or specialists who were not on a list of Scientology approved doctors

we'll never know since medical records are confidential
only the family's word that he had Kawasaki's or anything else
and we all know how families can lie and circle the wagons if they feel the need to protect themselves
or be secretive

and if a doctor speaks about this to the news media-if he's affiliated with Scientology-would we believe anything he said anyways
not sure I would

83. We have a 19 year-old that is severely asthmatic. And yes, every night before we go to bed we peek in on her. If she comes home later from a date one of us is awake so that we can see for ourselves that she is ok. Even her college roommate checks on her before she goes to bed.

So I don't think it's ugly for some to question why neither Jett's parents nor his caretaker checked on him for such a long period of time.

When you have a child with health issues it just becomes a natural reflex to check on them often. And yes, more often than if your child doesn't have health concerns.

85. Something IS very wrong with this picture. Regardless of the idea that the kid was autistic and his health care could have been mishandled over the years, due to the parents beliefs, the fact that a kid 'prone to seizures" was LAST seen the night before and NOT discovered until 10:30AM the FOLLOWING morning, NOT by his "loving parents", but by a caretaker, sends up red flags to me. I'm sure that law enforcement must feel the same way. Maybe it was the fault of nanny's or caregivers to the children or this boy, but something stinks here.

87. ummm, to Saddened: I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are simply clueless about what exactly the Scientology cult is. These parents are members of a cult that prohibits the use of most medications. This boy had a serious condition. If his parents refused to allow him access to the medications he needed because they chose the cult over him then you better believe they can and should be criticized for it. These are not just two poor people who have lost their child. They are two people whose actions may have directly led to the death of their son. That is the very definition of "vile and sick".

88. RIP JETT.
Sad loss at such a young age, don't matter who the parents are or what they believed in. If it was truely his time to go, then it was his time. The negative comments on here won't bring him back, let the kid be at peace and family mourn.

89. I thought the same thing about the care taker. Usually a nanny is a woman....but?

Anyway, we live in America and we have a choice when it comes to religion. Jett's parents made his religious decison for him like all parents do at that age. Jehovah's Witnesses don't accept blood, many have died due to that religious belief. People die every day due to religious beliefs. Lastly, I don't support thier religion, however I support their chice to decide what religion they want to be. Unless we want to outlaw all but one religion, is that what we should do as American's?

90. how can people talk so wildly about this death....Duh,,,,if they went to bed and he was in batroom, who is going to go looking for their son in the middle of the nite....especially if you do not usually do this....I just hope that he was taking meds for the seizures and the Scientology methods were not being used. This is devastating to that family and to all their family and friends....we will know the outcome next week....
