16. allicat is right ~ BloNo is not the place for strip clubs. You have to go to Kappa or Peoria (I'm assuming allicat is referring to Big Al's).

Kappa, Peoria, Bloomington. . . it's all "Down State" to Chicago guys. You mean Kappa and Bloomington isn't the same town? It's like driving from "da nort side" to "da sout siade". LOL Now, "Big Al's" . . . that is a real joint!

More on Sam and his illustrious career..heres a highlight, notice any similarities to those he hangs with?:

In 2000, Shepard decided to repay a debt of gratitude to the Magic Theatre by staging his play The Late Henry Moss as a benefit in San Francisco. The cast included Nick Nolte, Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, and Cheech Marin. The limited, three-month run was sold out.

Decent actors, but all with known drug/alcohol abuse. Plus they take lousy mug shots. Hope Sam sobers up, at least a little as Joan Short from a previous posting seems quite worried about ones take on Illinois DUI laws.

18. Mj if it took you 30 seconds to read that post, especially considering the top of it was a repeat of someone else's, perhaps you need to not concern yourself with strip clubs and check into elementary schools in Illinois to obtain some reading skills.

20. gosh, some people are so superficially focused on looks....just the kind of Hollywood attitude Sam Shepard derided....SS is just about one of America's greatest living playrights, a multi talented playright, author, actor, director....

thankfully no one was killed....wonder if he and jessica lange are on the outs?

that post by joan short was positively whacko

22. If a law was enacted to be effective on January 1, 2009 and the guy was arrested on January 3, I think it's obvious what law he'll be charged under. No problem.

24. No, mj~
LOL~ I did not forget the other colleges in town. The arrest happened in Nornal, that's why I mentioned ISU. If he was arrested in Bloomington, then obviously I would have stated it IWU. I mentioned ISU because people may (or may not) associate the area better, recgonize it more so than IWU.

25. Those posts had me reading the Illinois Register (pg.9819) for the law. I was wondering what would happen if the person couldn't pay for it. There is a surcharge for the devices that goes into a fund for indigent people. The poor people don't have to worry. Illinois lawmakers have already thought of those drunken welfare babies.

26. All of you that aren’t from the area of Bloomington/ Normal, You don't know what you’re talking about. And the question, “how can a hot man turn so bad”. Well alcohol isn't a beauty drink. If it was a lot of you should drink up. It’s an addictive crap. It solves your problems; you have for a short time, till you wake up. But you really know your friends when they don’t' let you drink and drive. Its just too bad he didn't have any friends in the bar (as many times as he has been there) to help him back to his room. This wouldn't have happened. Keith Whitley died from it and my brother died because of it. You shouldn't put someone down because they drink too much, you should help them out and stop them when they have had too much to drink. You’re a loser if you don't step in. You’re a friend if you step in....

ps If they can't pay for it Dollar store diva they they shouldn't be dinking and getting caught. if they can afford the dinks they can afford to pay the bill for the punishment when caught.... Oh and some of you people and i use that very losely are really nasty thoughts....

27. Some friends and I were sitting with Sam at the bar he was at before he made a terrible decision to drive to his hotel. When we left him at 12:30 he didn't seem drunk at all. He was very kind and didn't mind the company. The only people out there that have the right to slam his decision to drink and drive are the ones that have never ever had a few drinks and drove home. For the ones that have you just haven't got caught yet. As far as remarks about his looks he is 65 years old for crying out loud and it was freaking am in the morning. Making a bad decision doesn't make him a terrible person. Maybe some of need to focus on his accomplishments and not this messy situation he is in. Where did you people get the idea that there were allot of strip clubs in the Bloomington Normal area. We should be hoping that he get through this the same that you would want to get through it if you were in his shoes.

28. No one should drive drunk. As for looks, yes I am focusing on looks. This guy's mugshot isn't too far off from the one Glen Campbell took. I don't mind walking around the next day trying to find where I parked the day before. It's a small Island & we have pink cabs too.

29. I have to take issue with your headline: .175 is NOT very drunk. It is buzzed. A blood alcohol of .25 or greater, not THAT is approaching VERY drunk.
