Caught On Tape -- Cops Attack Actors

TMZ has obtained video showing the arrest of Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright last July, and it looks like the cops had their sights set on an ass-whuppin'.

Brolin arrest: Click to watch

It all went down in Shreveport, LA in July. Both actors were arrested for allegedly interfering with an officer. The tape we obtained begins with a passive Brolin -- his arm around fellow-actor Jeffrey Wright -- when a cop pepper sprays him in the face. But it gets more brutal -- when Wright is laying on the ground and it appears a cop repeatedly tasers him.

Today Blair Berk, the lawyer for Brolin and Wright, convinced prosecutors to dismiss all charges against all seven defendants in March, provided they obey the law until then.

31. Cops are a-holes. Sure, there are good ones who do a decent job (the job that they're paid for). But the majority of them are undereducated pricks, people who didn't want to go to college or the military who instead decided to stay home and screw with the people who "wronged" them in society.

I recently was arrested and spent the night in jail for riding a bike drunk. And when I went to court, the judge laughed and dismissed every charge. Not only that, but I received an official apology from the state of California for unjust incarceration. The cops who arrested me were wrong, as it turned out, just as the cops in this video are wrong.

Cops are such a-holes...

34. I hate the police. They are either bullys or cowards. The bullies are like the cops in this video abusing their power and the cowards are the ones refusing to turn them in knowing they are terrorist. I hate the police. Until the corruption in Shreveport is clean up I could careless what happens to any cop with few excetpions. f them.

37. Well the whole point is the whole thing would have been avoided if these guys would have let the cops do their job. And the video does not show Wright struggling prior to the taze. These guys think they are above the law and need to learn to follow it.

38. The tape only shows part of the incident and does not show what went on inside the bar previous to the outside exchange. I did not see reason for spraying Josh Brolin, but like I said, you don't know what happened beforehand. Jeffrey Wright was resisting, but in the tape when the woman keptasking why are you tazing him, there was no evidence from her tape he was being tazed. The officers had their hands on him and that wouldn't be the case if he was being tazed. Had these individuals not been in the public eye, no one would give a rip one way of the other about this incident.

39. Something had to have happened to have the cops arrest them. This isn't the full story. That being said, no one should be tased when they are down on the ground not moving around. How many cops were standing right there? Embarrassing for law enforcement who are predominantly good, regardless of some of the posts to the contrary.

41. Are you people high? I see the cops jerk them away from each other, since they were holding on to each other to avoid being arrested, but that's all I see. I heard the woman who videotaped it accuse the cops of tazering Wright, but didn't see his body react violently the way someone does when voltage is surging through their bodies.

It's obvious TMZ is in the business of sensationalism, since that's what their fans seek out and expect to find, not to mention the fans are obvious media groupies, glorifying everything Hollywood and striving to be as hollow and materialistic as those that Hollywood produces.

It's a crime to interfere with the duties of a police officer and you will be arrested. That's the ONLY thing I see in this video and until I see something else, that's what it is.

42. How anybody can defend this is beyond me,
doesn't matter what happened beforehand,
repeatedly shocking a cuffed non-resistant person is EXCESSIVE.
I have never had personal issue with the law but have seen abuse of power on more than one occasion.

43.

The Borgen Project has informative statistics on addressing global poverty.

$30 billion ends world hunger
$550 billion is the US Defense budget

This organization has the ability, resources, and policy-makers to suppress the threat of global poverty by enacting legislation here in the US, which is tied to the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals. Please support organizations such as The Borgen Project so that we may rid the world of poverty.

45. You know, cops do nonsense like this all the time. They think because they wear a gun in a holster and have a badge pinned to their chest, they are somehow superior to others, and above the same laws they have made an oath to serve and protect.

BTW, to the fool referring to her self as Julia Pitt...there's no law against two "d list actors, acting gay", as you said in your post. Is that the "crime" they were charged with? Nope. Is that sufficient cause to take two men to the ground, pepper spray them and subsequently taze another? Nope. Go away. You made absolutely no sense, and only showed how clueless and ignorant you are.

I hope these two fellas sue the crap out of the department, and WIN! They (the cops) bring shame to the uniform.
