Travolta Memorial Small, Sans Stars

We made dozens of calls yesterday re: Jett Travolta's memorial service and it appears the stars will not be flocking to Ocala, Florida.

From all signs, the service will be relatively small and held at the home of John Travolta and Kelly Preston. So far there are no overt signs Tom Cruise will show. Oprah definitely won't because she's out of the country. Ditto Will Smith, who's in Berlin. Jenna Elfman's rep says she's "unsure" if Jenna will attend.

We've been at the local airports and so far no celebs have flown in for tomorrow's service.

On the other hand, the local flower shops say they've been flooded with orders.

From all appearances the memorial is a small, close-friends-and-family affair. So far the local sheriffs haven't been asked to provide security -- further proof it will be low-key.

We're at the airports today. To be continued ...

34. YOU ARE WAITING AT THE ARPORT YOU GUYS ARE LOSERS ...THERE IS ONE THING TO STALK PEOPLE ON A REGULAR BASIS BUT WHEN THEY ARE SUFFERING OMG IT SHOWS THE LACK OF RESPECT YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF YOUR FAMILY AND SOCIETY ....THIS IS A TIME WHEN YOU SHOULD SAY WE ARE GOING TO STEP BACK AND LET THIS FAMILY DEAL WITH THE GRIEF...

35. So sad.. It is horrible that this family was ashamed of the autism (either that or the stupid religion). I think Oprah should do a show on people like this.

36. Harvey, I had a lot of respect for you when both you and I worked at Kramer, Levin, Nessen, Kamin & Frankel on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Then you started on CourtTV and now you have TMZ. I am now an Ocala resident, and the Travoltas (nor anyone else) do not deserve to be hounded like prey upon the death of a loved one, nonetheless a teenage son! Please leave them alone, Where will it end that, once again, you will be a person of great respect that I once so admired? Get your own life and stop living to bring more debauchery to our already suffering society!

37. So if TMZ are vultures, freaks, tacky, what does that make YOU?! You come here and read and even go through the bother to post messages, and that makes you, what? Is someone forcing you to come here? (Oh wait, they are, the scientolonuts have sent their minions to flood message boards) I personally can't get enough of this story, I hope there will be an investigation because I am convinced that scientology is responsible for the boy's death.

Btw, haha Jenna "Have you raped a baby?" Elfman wasn't invited! Does she even count as a celeb anymore? You'd think they would have revoked her access card to the scientlogy celebrity center, but she still probalby gets residuals from her stupid show

38. Harvey, I cant wait for your gay lover to die...maybe Perez will stake out the airport and see who comes to the funeral. Cant wait to see the pics of your grieving slimeball azz and his crying family. Ya..real newsworthy and ethical. TMZ pigs.

39. Comment 15, you need to read the story more clearly, Jett did NOT hit his head. He did NOT have a bump on the head. No signs of injury whatsoever. He died of a seizure disorder.

As far as camping out at the aiport, that is uncalled for at a time like this. Please leave them alone. Let them have their time with their families.

As for the other comments about not caring, you don't care that someone died? Are you inhuman?

I am deeply saddened for your loss. May you be forever comforted by all that is spiritually good in this realm. Sometimes, the simplest words are the best ........

42. Losing a child is the 'WORST" thing that can happen to a person, I know < I lost a 17 yr.old son and a 6 week old son, so I know and understand what the travolta's are going through. You are "NEVER" the same. There is no way to explain it except that it is like someone tore your heart out of your chest and stomped on it and put it back inside your chest and it's numb. My prayers and thoughts go out to the travolta's. You had a beautiful son and you could tell how much he loved you's and how much you's loved him. He had the best parents and he knew that. hE DIED KNOWING HOW MUCH HE WAS LOVED.May God bless you all.

43. TMZ - You should be ashamed of yourselves. Photographers camped out at the airport? How classless. This has got to be the absolute worst time for this family and all you care about is getting your shot and cashing in. I no longer have any respect for your publication.

44. Hey, idiots, don't click on the story or post comments if you don't like it! This story will most likely be one of the most read and commented this year, because of you

45. The group Autism United has reached out to the Travolta family, and wants to help them through this ordeal, and also hopes that they will help reach out to other families with autism.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2009/01/national-autism.html

I truly hope that the Travoltas will do this, since helping others is a good way to deal with grief. The Travoltas celebrity status could bring so much awareness of autism to others.

Rather than the Travoltas burying their heads in the sand and keeping with Scientology's belief that autism is causes by alien spirits that need to be removed through auditing, they need to speak out that autism is real and for more research into this disease.
