Brolin/Wright Got Off Easy Compared to This

Turns out the Josh Brolin/Jeffrey Wright arrest video in Shreveport, Louisiana was tame -- compared to this incident. A woman had the crap beaten out of her by Shreveport's finest back in 2007.

31. I was the booking officer in a detention center in a large metropolitan city for several years, so I understand how diffcult drunks or druggies can be to deal with. That being said, there is a hard and fast rule that you follow once a person is in restraints (cuffs, etc). and that is that you must no longer use the same type of force that you used prior to cuffing them (there is no need to) and you must protect them from injuring themselves (falling etc). Before the extensive use of video cameras (80's and 90's, basically pre-Rodney King), I found myself getting between other officers and restrained prisoners on many occasions as they began to brutalize them. This was a very small percentage officers, but I knew when they brought someone in that they could intimidate, slap around, etc, that I had an obligation to intervene, hopefully before it started. Dealing with drunks when you are sober is very frustrating, however, I was not paid to judge or penalize these people and recognized that their trip before the judge and a nasty hangover were punishment enough.

32. I lived in Shreveport for 15 years. I can not tell you how glad I am that I no longer even live in the state! Shreveport cops are out of control. BTW....this woman did receive money for her beating and the "man" that did this to her is no longer employed...unless of course he went across the bridge to Bossier City to beat up handcuffed woman?!

I commented on the Brolin story two days ago, and my post was deleted within hours. It's amazing how far the influence of a dirty police department goes.

You've heard the phrase "driving while black"....well....."driving while having the nerve to live in Shreveport" applies to everyone there.

33. I think that if that lady would have kept her mouth shut and followed instructions given by the officer, all would have ended differently. BUT she demanded to use her cell phone, claiming she knew her rights, she had the right to "SHUT THE FU@K UP " she was screaming like she was being beaten sensless, SHE DROVE DRUNK PEOPLE I don't feel sorry for this lady, she should have coplied, for all you know she fell to the floor and busted her own head open, she was drunk you know. When a police officer tells you to do something, DO IT!!!!!!!!! Don't question his authority at that moment!!!!!!!!

34. Yea you know what pretty sure if she was driving and killed someone related to you, you wouldnt care if the cop did that... I agree if cops did more of that maybe we wouldnt have losers running around thinking their bad ass killing people, drunk drivers only getting 5 years for manslaughter and child preditors.

35. Did she sue the city?? How much jail time did this cop serve?? Let me guess..none. Crooked cops need to be sentenced more harsh, more so then regular citizens since it tarnishes the law on all aspects. How can you respect the law when the law doesn't respect you?? I have meant some great officers, but I've also witnessed some crap from other officers. Public relations are strained..on account of crooked cops.

I'm white, Texan, in my mid 30's and licensed for concealed carry. I take damn care of myself and my own, with no police or government interference. Maybe you should learn to live for yourself.

37. P.S. Always question authority

38. Oh right, she fell to the floor herself, look at her face dummy. Also he turned the camera off so no one would see him beat her up, I do not approve of drunk driving but this is so uncalled for. A cop has no right to hurt anyone unless his life is in danger,

40. I know a 56 yr old man that was leaving a casino in Shreveport. He has a permanent limp and they thought he was drunk. He got the crap beat out of him and spent 3 days in the hospital.

41. Prosecute NOW!!!

Posted at 10:17AM on Jan 8th 2009 by Mark Proctor

42. Got what she deserved eh? Well, let's handcuff you and beat you like a dog. I am not saying the woman was a saint as she should've followed orders. Still, there was no call for that officer to beat her like that. He's lucky all he got was fired as his ass should be in jail too!
==================================================================================================
18. Are you all nuts. This lady got exactly what she deserved. Get a life people. She should have sat when she was told too.
But the stupid drunk just kept getting up. Everyone can blame the cop all they want but had she listened and did what she was told this wouldn't have happened. I dont believe I heard him say You are under arrest for DUI. That is usually done after the test have been performed for it I believe. Not 100% sure though. After you are arrested then you may ask for a phone call. They have a set timelime in which test for DUI must be administered. If nothing else she should have received a DUI, Disorderly Conduct, and aggravated Stupidity. The easy solution to all of this is : KEEP YOUR DRUNK REAREND at home and not endanger the lives of innocent people. Watching this video you dont know what brought this on. Was she driving, caused an accident, or just walking down the street. You are only seeing what people want you to see. Even though I believe alittle excess force was used like face meeting the wall, that was brought on by her. Maybe next time someone should MACE her in the face and then maybe she would shut that mouth and sit down. I pray everyday for my husband who is a policeman that has to deal with stupid crap like this. Although he has never used this type of force I know he has been spit on, puked on, and swung at by gutter trash. Maybe they should just let them all alone and have them kill someone close to you, THEN and only THEN will you stop blaming the cops.

Just my opinion....

43. For those few who are saying she should have done what she was told, sit down and shut up, etc. She was screaming initially but after he threw her against the wall she was calm and sitting because he scared her to death. Therefore he had NO right to stop the tape and beat the crap out of her she was scared and sitting calmly. He did it because he let authority go to his head and he had 0 self control and a woman abuser. He needs the same done to him she was a woman first of all, second of all she was restrained in handcuffs, this is the most outrageous thing I have ever seen

44. RickJ, I applaud you as that's the way a situation like that SHOULD be dealt with. Unless the officer's life is in danger, there is no call for what he did.

As for concrete-sox, you need therapy. Sure, she got all that by falling on the floor! Just like Nicole Brown Simpson got all her bruises from falling down the steps when everyone knew O.J. did it! NOT!I am all for obeying authority but that still doesn't give them the right to abuse people just because they are drunken jerks. Why didn't he rape the poor woman while he was at it? I guess she would've asked for that too! Please!

45. Ever since they started taking God out of everything

Huh? What does that have to do with anything on this video. Putting God back into everything doesn't make bad people nice again or stop people from drinking and ending up in the tank to begin with.
