A visibly shaken Tom Cruise finally opened up about the death of his good friend's son -- describing Jett Travolta's death as "horrific" and addressing Scientology's role in the tragedy.
Struggling to find the right words, Cruise addressed the emotional topic during a taping for tomorrow's episode of "The View," where he claimed his religion does not prohibit people from seeing a doctor and getting proper medication.

116. Scientologists belive in treating PHYSICAL ailments...not MENTAL ailments. They do not recognize AUTISM. It's clear that Jett was autistic and WAS NOT treated with meds properly. It's common that autistics have seizures. He may have had Kawasawki disease when he was younger, but he also was autistic. Why won't interviewers ask the right question? "Does Scientology recognize that some mental conditions need to be treated with medication?" Maybe this will wake John & Kelly up and show them what kind of cult they're in.

118. They may have 'adored' their son but they certainly tried to hide the fact that he was autistic. In Scientology that is considered a 'degraded being'. It wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if they denied him proper medication since they want to completely eliminate psychiatry and all 'psych' drugs.
