Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital after he came down with pneumonia.
Swayze was supposed to take part in a presentation for his show, "The Beast" -- but when he couldn't make it, the president of the A&E network informed reporters about the situation, at Patrick's request.
"He asked us specifically to go forward with today's panel. We wish him the very best with his recovery."
Swayze revealed last year that he is battling pancreatic cancer.

18. Most people in the entertainment industry come across as shallow, selfish, spoiled and completely out of touch with reality. They think the world revolves around them. Then there are those precious few who manage to have lengthy successful careers without constantly being in the tabloids. An elite few whom you never hear anything bad about, and who truly come across as wonderful people. Those that we can imagine having a conversation with, as if they were an old friend. Patrick Swayze is one such celebrity. He is incredibly brave, and has a strong will to fight this. He is in the battle of his life, FOR his life. My thoughts and my prayers are with him.

Sadly I fear this might be it and he won't be checking out of the hospital; with cancer it is often the following pneumonia or other infection that ultimately ends up killing you as your immune system has been weakened by chemo and you are unable to fight it off. I sadly suspect very soon we will be hearing he has died....

23. Patrick is true class act, no obnoxious or arrogant bone in his body, and he and Lisa are a couple that truly love each other, a rarity in the entertainment industry. Prayers and best wishes for the strength to keep fighting.

25. I saw his interview with Barbara Walters and am so in awe of this man. From that interview, I think he will keep fighting as long as there is still a single breath in his body. God Bless.

26. Dear Patrick, I watched your interview the other night and thought what a courageous person you truly are. Also, the love you have for your wife and family is so heartfelt. Ever since I first saw you on the screen, I have been a fan. You are a fine gentleman and talented actor, plus your heart is as big as "TEXAS." I am so sorry you and others who have this terrible disease have to endure all the pain and suffering that it causes. I do believe that you have the "fight" it takes to get through this. 27. I am praying for you Patrick. After seeing you on the Barbara Walters Special I am truly happy to see someone who is so grounded. Like everyone has said here you are a wonderful human being and I hope and pray for you to beat this. As some one who had a brother who had cancer it is always a hard fight! 30. This is really one of the biggest losses to the movie industry. He is a amazing actor. I have loved every movie he has been in and is the best when it comes to anything he attempts. Its a tragic shame that they are no closer to curing cancer in all the years that they have been trying. Almost everybody dies of cancer...why cant the make any strices in any form of cure?
Our life spans are so short and then to lose such phenomanal humans when if only we could find the cure.
This one really upsets me because he had so much to offer and now what.
I am praying this is a short setback and he will have the 5 years he wanted.
