Photog Could Get Sacked Over Skier's Shrinkage

SkierThe dude who took the incredibly awesome photos of a skier being dangled with his dangle hangin' out -- could lose his job over the incident.

Marty Odem -- a photographer who works for a company that shoots pics of skiers at Vail Mountain ski lifts -- says he's already been suspended over the pics and believes he'll probably get fired over the incident. The photo company says the pics violate the skier's privacy. No pun intended.

Odom wrote on a snowboarding website that he took the pictures on his day off and was carrying his own camera. Even with the threat of losing his job, Odem claims "the photo is worth it."

And it sooo is.

122. Hey, everybody has embarrassing moments. If it happens in public you laugh at yourself and go on. This poor skier is going to sue the resort., and get a lot of money for his embarrassment, the photog gets some fame and we all get a chuckle.

123. You know the guys that shoot "snatch" pictures don't lose their jobs. This poor guy reports the news please! He should sue if he loses his job over this.

124. Good it`s about time these ass holes with the cameras were held accountable for their actions.

125. As a skier, I found this photo funnier than heck. Look before you sit. This is my only words of advice. And as for the photo, PRICELESS. No one could see his face, as long as he does not make a big deal out of it, nobody will point him out in public, and say your that dumb*** that was hang upside down on the chair left in Vail. Come on people. I am sure everyone has had their moment. No need to sue the guy that had the camera, Its Vail’s fault he was upside down. Easy settlement if you ask me. I would take 10 season passes for life.

126. First of all, the photographer should not be penalized for shooting this image. How can it be an invasion of privacy if you are not in a private setting? I doubt he has ever mentioned the mans name, or even knows his name. Just another john doe caught in a comedic situation. Anyone who thinks this photographer should pay any penalty whatsoever needs to get a sense of humor. There is no harm in this photo, if you cant laugh at yourself for something like this happening, or if you initial reaction to seeing this is not to laugh, you just need to loosen up.

127. This naked guy is NOT a public figure and is therefore entitled to his privacy. I am betting the idiot who took and posted these photos would NOT like to have the same thing done to him. It shows an outrageous lack of judgement , inflicts personal humiliation and is an invasion of privacy which will impact the man forever because of the photographers lack of common sense and sensitivity. I hope the naked skier sues the pants off of him. Pun intended.

128. It's just plainly wrong that the photographer benefited monetarily from this poor skier's mishap. He (the photo guy) has to worry though--karma may just be around the corner to bite him in the rear-end. But what is even more disgusting is the very first comment made by 'off of depakote', who made a disturbing reference and poor attempt at a joke over the Travolta Family tradgedy. I think he has issues, which when exposed will cost him more than embarrassment.

129. You know how do you people KNOW that this man will be SO UPSET!!! How do you KNOW what he is going to DO or NOT DO?? So many are so 'SUE HAPPY' - so many people in this country are wound tighter than a drum. RELAX!! Life is NOT THAT SERIOUS!!! I've read so many blogs and it's like the negative ones come from those just sitting around LOOKING FOR that. Why would you CHOOSE to live in the negative all the time. Times are tough enough right now. It's a rarity to see people make efforts to GET ALONG!! I am visiting with my 4 year old granddaughter whom I hadn't seen in 2 yrs. So often she will talk about people not being nice to one another, how she is always nice to her friends, etc. She 'sees' way beyond her years. It was a photograph. Maybe the man will be upset = maybe he won't. Some people think it's funny - some people don't. NO BIG DEAL!!!!

130. I wondered too, why Travolata' s situation was mentioned here but since it was I have to say losing a child has to be the worst loss one could experience. I wonder, however, why they would dismiss the fact that the son was autistic. The pictures of Jett were such that something was different about him, So what. It happens.
How many fathers do you see leading their 16 yr olds around holding their hand like a 5 yr old?
That's seemed unnatural to me. Regardless, my heart goes out to the family.

get a life grow up get rid of the law suits

132. Since, so far, the person remains anonymous and his face was not photographed, this should be a non-issue. But, and this is a big but (no pun intended) he is going to sue the resort and at that time his identity may become known. So, the photographer took his chances and now he may be liable, I would think.

135. I'm assuming at least a handful of you read celebrity gossip and check out the latest sex tape. How is this any different? Except he's not famous.

People should either stop being such hypocrites or realize that everybody's privacy should be left as private (Note: whatever you think, the latter was the correct answer)
