Howie's Doc -- Something Sounds Wrong

TMZ now has details on the medical scare than landed Howie Mandel in the hospital last night.

Here's what we know. Early in the day, Howie underwent a "cast physical" for his show "Howie Do It." After listening to Howie's heart, the doctor said, "I don't like something." Never the words you want to hear. The doctor said he heard an irregular heart beat and gave him an EKG to confirm.

Prior to the physical, we're told Howie never felt that anything was wrong with his heart.

Later that day, however, Howie began feeling ill from something he felt was heart-related. Our sources say the doctor had given Howie medicine to control his heartbeat and cautioned him not to take it on an empty stomach. Howie, however, took the med without eating anything.

We're told it definitely was not a heart attack and Howie could be back at work today.

Nothing against Howie, but isnt it amazing how famous people are "spoiled" by our healthcare system?..As someone who has an irregular/fast heartbeat due to a thyroid condition.(of which i've been trying for 3 years to get help with, my last doctor told me it was nothing but me having ADHD, and blaming a goiter on me!)and even though ive been to 3 cardiologist, ive NEVER been hospitalized, in fact, I get the "quit complaining" attitude. I have had to quit working, and move in with my children because of how sad our doctors are in the US. Its truly pathetic! It must be nice to live in the perfect world of the hollywood elite. What a buch of ingreats..(watch tv for all the rehab shows..its great their getting help, but come on.. how many times is Lindsay Lohan going to "seek help"???

21. Do some of you people even read these articles before you make comments? The article said Howie's doctor diagnosed him with an irregular heartbeat through listening (with a stethoscope) and by giving him an EKG. It also says Howie was given medication for the irregular heartbeat. Heart medications are serious drugs and one no would be prescribed these drugs unless they needed them for a real condition - they are not given for a psychosomatic problems!! I recently began having episodes of a heart rhythm disorder. These episodes are very dramatic and I am highly aware they are happening but many people with the same condition don't even know they have it at all until it is discovered during a routine exam. So it is very possible he had a heart problem and was not aware of it until his doctor caught it. And it is very unsettling to find out you have such a condition - it can make anyone anxious.
