A true hero indeed, however I am very disappointed the media has failed to mention the First Officer of this flight as well. An Airbus A320 needs two pilots to operate this plane. The Captain could not have done this without help. I highly commend BOTH pilots who are repsonsible for making this safe landing. The results of a ditched water landing usually ends in disaster. It's fortunate the Captain had a lot of experience and knew this bird well. Hats off to the Captain AND the First Officer, whoever your name is - I hope the media recognizes you as you deserve. sully's awesome yes.... a job well done.... a 'hero' to those in the plane, no doubt, but i'm not so sure about the 78 people killed (bystanders i assume), at least according to ya.hoo...

yes, he landed the plane, but hats off to all those ferrymen/boaters/whatever, who got to the plane fast enough before the ppl hit the frigid water (hypothermia anyone?)... and hats off to the co-pilot, cause there is no i in team...

not surprising that TMZ failed to proofread, and posted the poor man's info... at least after reading the comments (as per custom) they took it down....

okay okay okay... just went back to ya.hoo. ca and the story has been amended... when i read it, the last paragraph said "78 people have been killed, including four ,otorists on the bridge".... now it's says that in a similar plane crash 20 (?) years ago, 78 ppl died, incl. 4 on bridge, and only 5 survived... so i amend my former comment, but the rest stands true...

and i can't find the co-pilot's name... wish TMZ would post it alongside sully....

This just shows that experience and age counts for something. This is a great example for the employers out there that shun older workers. What a great ending to what could have been a terrible tragedy.
I hope that all of the corporations out there take notice!!!
What a hero!

This puts celebrities to shame. They make huge amounts of money for movies that are awful. Here is a PROFESSIONAL pilot that saved over 150 lives today.

All in a days job for him. He deserves a raise!

I think our new President should honor this pilot !!!! He should be invited to the Inaugranation. Better this Hero Pilot there than all of the Political Hacks and their mistresses.

PLEASE DON'T INSULT THE MAN BY INSINUATING THAT HE SHOULD BE INVITED TO THE INAUGURATION...FOR WHAT? TO SEE AMERICA'S MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT BEING SWORN?

Sullenberger's co-pilot was Jeff Skiels, 49, of Oregon, Wis., a 23- year US Airways veteran. My hats off to both pilots. They did an awesome job!
