Alba -- The Ditz Confused About Switzerland

Nobody saw "Into the Blue" to hear her speak -- and the other day in D.C., Jessica Alba once again proved she's better on mute.

Jessica Alba: Click to watch
At the same event she called Bill O'Reilly an "A-hole," Alba tried to school a CNS News reporter -- but ended up looking like an arrogant buffoon instead.

Enjoy her confusing Switzerland with Sweden -- and her hubby finally getting her to shut up.

151. What I'm really getting tired of on this issue is everyone saying "It doesn't matter she was right...she really meant to say Switzerland, not Sweden...so that proves she's stupid."

My question is: how do any of us know what she meant to say? Last time I checked, there there wasn't a single human being that was omniscient, so why not give it a rest? Is it really just too much that Jessica Alba just might be a little more intelligent than people like to think?

I'm also getting sick of people saying how she just wanted to like an arrogant and overbearing bitch to some journalist. well, here's the problem...watch the clip again and you'll notice that Alba and this journalist are already engaged in dialogue...but since the clip picks up somewhere after the dialogue started, we have no idea what he or she might have said prior. Maybe the journalist was trying to talk down to her and she wasn't going to stand for it. Maybe he's totally innocent. We don't know, so there's no point to trying to vilify Alba until all the facts are in.

156. Why do so many ignorant people feel the need to spew their own unfounded and patently false opinions around just because J Alba made a comment they (falsely) believe is erroneous?

Example from Mutiger Narr: "sweden may have been "neutral" during WWII but it actually wasn't.. it supported germany and thousands of voulenteers from sweden joined the nazi regime.. also their country produced the metal and whatnot for the german war machines.. also sweden is not neutral anymore like switzerland still is because it has done things like joining the EU."

Moronic and ridiculous post!

Switzerland made just as many concessions during WWII as Sweden, acting as The Reich's personal bank being arguably the biggest. Just check out what the Swiss Federal Councillor [member of government] Max Petitpierre (in office 1945-1951) had to admit as early as 1947: "These credits and the deliveries of war material and other products [...] contributed to the war efforts of one of the belligerents. Not only had we abandonded integral neutrality, but - even worse - in so doing, we were as a rule deviating from the very notion of neutrality."

The FACTS are that Sweden has the world record for longest neutrality. Both swe and swi have sent troops to many hot-areas around the world in peacekeeping duties. EU membership has zero effect on neutraility, it is not a military union in any sense of the word. And outside of USA elementary schools, sweden's neutrailty is just as well known as Switzerland's.

Also Alba's mother is from Denmark so it conceivable, perhaps even plausible, that she actually knew this and made a correct factual statement. OR maybe she didnt, what does it matter?

Funniest thing is that the people who bash her the most, like Mutiger Narr, are typically proven to be the most ignorant.

too funny!

157. funniest thing in this whole debate are the people who say that it is worldwide expression "be neutral like switzerland" and that this makes it obvious that Alba made a foo-pah.

Two faults with this line of reasoning:
1) It aint true. It is only commonplace in the US. Outside the US (very SMALL part of the world) Sweden's neutraility is just as well known as Switzerland's,
2) Even if it WERE true, why assume that Alba's thinking is the same as your personal thinking“and the masses' thinking. Do you know her? Since she has been to Sweden maybe she heard it there that they are neutral, maybe she knew before. Maybe she said it because of her scandinavian roots. Maybe she knows that Sweden has been neutral the longest and wanted to sound smart. Who knows?

I would put my money on her comment being a mistake. Mainly because her defense speech was a bit weird/used strange reasons. But I dont know. I wouldn't presume to KNOW if she was right or wrong or why she said what she said.
