"Sully" Gets the Bird in D.C.

According to Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger -- revenge tastes like chicken.

TMZ has learned the most famous pilot on the planet made his first public appearance in D.C. last night, at a low-key dinner with some members of his heroic flight crew and several passengers from Flight 1549. The name of the restaurant -- Hudson... Seriously.

Sully was a rockstar, shaking hands with a steady flow of admirers in the restaurant -- which by the way, is great.

Now the best part: As if to take revenge on the birds that brought down his jet, Sully dined on buttermilk fried chicken.

76. Some amazing ignorance. I've been flying for more than 25 years...14 as an airline pilot. Cannons to scare away birds? Don't think so... 'specially not at LaGarbage. Radar would show the birds? Did you make that crap up, or are you so gullible you believed it when someone else told you it was so? Dude, do you know the word gullible isn't in the dictionary? And whatever problems USAir may have (I am no fan of theirs) it could have happened (and would have happened to whatever plane happened to be taking off and flying that profile. Here's some hindsight flying... Probably could have made Teterborough - - but if he didn't than everyone on board GUARANTEED to die - remember they had a full bag of fuel - having just taken off - lots of fire. Not to mention all the dead ones on the ground... Nope - he made the only choice he could to give everyone a chance. Nice job F/O - Way to back up your Capt. If he would have 'supported the Captain, but not supported his decision' things would have ended differently. And finally, Kudos to the Sandwich Girls in the back (Relax - my wife is a proud Sandwich girl - got the name flying out of LaGarbage to PBI some years back!) Without their leadership and guidance post-ditching - lives would have been lost. Well done, crew! (I'm sure your bonus from USeless Air is in the mail).

78. To the poster who said soaking chicken in buttermilk and then frying it is a southern thing, well that may have been 50 years ago, but I know of many people and restaurants that do that and I was born and raised in the NorthEast. It's like Tex-Mex Food or anything SouthWestern. Those foods too have gone global. Hell just look at restaurants that sell steak; you will almost always see New York Strip on the menu. Does that mean it's a New York thing only? Sometimes I wonder what the poster is thinking when they make comments like that! Think before you type, you'll look more intelligent!

80. Why is this guy making such a spectacle of himself? Wasn't he just doing his job and got lucky a river was there in the first place, with boats on the scene? The plane was headed that way anyway, Any competent pilot would have done the same, get over yourself Sully.
