Travolta Suspect Resigns

Sen, Pleasent BridgewaterOne of the three people charged with trying to extort money from John Travolta has resigned.

Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater has tendered her resignation from Parliament today, releasing the following statement:

"Yesterday, 23rd January is a day that will live in my memory as a nightmare. In my capacity as a lawyer, I acted within the bounds of the law and within the bounds of my ethical responsibility to my profession. How these innocent actions can be so misconstrued, so perversely twisted to mean something other than it was, is a mystery.

I assure the Bahamian people of my complete and total innocence and I am satisfied that when the full story comes out that I shall be fully vindicated. I will then take all appropriate and lawful actions for redress and to protect my good name.

I have spoken to the leader of our Party the Rt. Honourable Perry Christie. I have told him that while I am completely innocent, that I believe that while I fight these untrue and unfair charges that I should not put the Party through this ordeal. I have thereby indicated that I will resign from the Senate with immediate effect so that I can devote my full energies to the legal battle which now faces me.

I want to thank the Leader for his confidence in me and for allowing me the privilege of serving the country and the PLP. I want to thank the wonderful people of the Marco City Constituency for all their love, encouragement, prayers and support. I thank all people of goodwill who have sent words of encouragement. I thank my family and my counsel for all of their assistance. I am unbowed and I fully intend to fight so that I shall be vindicated. Please continue to pray for me."

31. she is being destroyed and rail-roaded by the church of scientolo-thugs. they ruin peoples lives, if they feel their members/robots are threatened or the truth about their involvement in the whole mess were to come to light.

scientology kills, destroys lives and bullies/imtimidates/harasses people that get in their way.

wake up people!

36. MariaMaria, you sound so dumb and stupid, instead of putting your fellow countrymen on blast, you should have defended your country, its obvious that politically you are on the other side of the fence, but dont be quick to call out the PLP. Your party isnt that better, you stole persons land, one of you mininsters in his duty as a lawyer failed to do a complete background check of land, and was paid a large sum of money. when the house was built on the land, someone came with papers for the land. The lady is still paying mortgage for the house today! dont forget Monavie, dont forget the $70 million paid for the airport improvement (runways) and it wasnt done. Dont forget the millions of dollars paid for road work that the PLP had to complete when came to power in 02. dont forget the THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS stolen from the Bahamas game.

38. I am proud of my country, in less than 3 days after the story broke the three people involved were taken into custody. Obie was brought in for questioning and Pleasant was arrested and charged as was Lightbourn. As it is now everything is going incredibly fast and in accordance with good jurisprudence, this is a good reaction by my country, despite what some want to say. Ms. Bridgewater is also an ex minister like Obie so for these two to be arrested considering their political clout says we the Bahamas are taking this very seriously and whoever is involved will be held to pay for their crime. Considering the past 8 years in the US, no American should open their mouths to say anything against the Bahamas on this. We are doing what we are supposed to do, even more. When you guys have bush and his henchmen behind bars feel free to comment on how you feel the Bahamas should handle this. Until that day though, anything said about how bad it is in the Bahamas is pure hypocritical nonsense. Go Bahamas!!!!! I am proud of you!!!!

40. I've heard a lot of terrible things said about my country, and I think it's not necessary. In every country you visit, you have messed up people...The Bahamas is no different, but before you seek to judge an entire country of people for 2 or 3 bad ones, take a long hard look at yourselves. We didn't judge you when Casey Anthony killed her child, nor when other stupid Americans did a lot of senseless things, like drowning their own children and beating them to death...that's unheard of in The Bahamas. If this happened in America, you wouldn't want people to judge you...matter of fact, no one could say anything to you. Look at it, Anna Nicole and her son died of a drug overdose...why...because of a stupid American, but what did you guys look at The Bahamas and say? Oh the government is corrupt. Stop acting like your sh*t don't stink, because it does...terribly. Yes we have corrupt members of government...who doesn't. You had a President who was impeached for f**kin around, other politicians who stepped down because of the same thing, and you just got rid of a President whose brain power is his shoe size and has the attention spand of a fish, but you sit here and insult my country. Yes, I think the persons involved should be locked up for such stupid acts, and I hope if they're guilty, they do make their lock down very public for being so stupid, but never dis my country when you share a nation with idots, live next door to peodphiles and can't even afford to visit my country when I could travel the world...

41. As a visitor from the UK to Grand Bahama Island in the year 2000, I suffered an accident that was caused by neglect at the resort at which I was staying. I retained Pleasant Bridgewater to act as my attorney in my claim against the owners of the resort and I have nothing but praise for the way she handled my case.
Also, having been on this planet for 78 years , I have in my time met several Scientologists many of whom, when the chips are down, DO NOT BELIEVE IN ILLNESS as such. So, with due respect to the Travoltas, WHOSE FAULT WAS IT THAT THEIR SON DIED and with normal care could it have been avoided? I cannot blame the accused for the actions they took in this case

I do not know about over your side of the pond but on this side, in the UK, people are innocent until proved guilty in a court of law. Please stop considering yourselves to be judge and jury
