Beckham Sued -- Accused of Beating Photog

David Beckham has been sued by a paparazzo who claims the soccer star and his bodyguard beat him up.

We just found the lawsuit, filed last month in L.A. County Superior Court, in which Emicles Da Mata claims on December 7, 2008, he had stopped his car on a Beverly Hills street when Beckham reached through the driver's window and grabbed his camera and attempted to wrestle it from him. Da Mata was holding the camera at the time.

The lawsuit claims Beckham's bodyguard -- also a defendant -- then beat him repeatedly, grabbed the camera and threw it in a trash can. The picture on the left shows two of Beckham's bodyguards on top of Da Mata.

Launch PhotosDa Mata says he was injured and is suing for assault and battery, as well as emotional distress. He's seeking unspecified damages.

17. Face it, kids. Posh would have no career, and Beckham would have only the stump of one, if it were not for the many photographers and suck up journalists who make them possible. Publicists keep the paparazzo informed of their clients' every move, and that, as Joseph Edo, Jr. says, is how the game is played.

The only publicity a celebrity (as opposed to an artist) doesn't like, is the kind he can't control.

19. as much as the paparazzi can go overboard, still it gives you no reason to beat them up, that's against the law, can't wait until the actual video is released, i heard they really beat him down and i hope he gets his day in court. but at the same time some paps should be more responsible for their actions.

Yo...11 steve...get of your high horse az I do know what Im talking about.I work on sunset & every night the pap'z will gang up on some one with those dam strobe light'z blinding me & everybody with in 50 yard'z & with power by number'z they start shouting some of the most idiot thing'z there 3rd grade grad'z mind can think off to try to get some crazy reaction but when they get corner'd by the c-leb,they sream "help..help"come on up to sunset blvd & watch the show & you will see what im talking about!!!

28. how funny and ironic. people here dissing the dumb paps, when in fact it's what brings everyone here to this site, and what makes women pull star, people, the national enqiuirer, etc from the magazine stand in a bookstore and sit down in starbucks while leafing through them and not paying for them. you can also see this type of behavior at the checkout stands in supermarkets. so whats my point you say? people are two-faced!

30. You can't have it both ways. The Beckhams, especially Victoria, go out of their way to be in the spotlight. She did try to launch a reality television show, and she makes sure she stands out clothing wise wherever she goes.
The Beckham's are the most overrated couples, suffering from affluenza. Even F Scott Fitzgerald's Daisy (The Great Gatsby) has more substance than Victoria and David Beckham.
