Details in Mystery Travolta Extortion Doc

John Travolta & Jett TravoltaWe've now gotten to the bottom of the mystery document that was the basis for the alleged extortion plot in the John Travolta case.

Sources connected with the investigation tell us John Travolta told EMT workers he wanted to fly his son to Florida rather than drive by ambulance to the hospital ... which was 45 minutes away.

There was a disagreement over which course would be better. John felt initially it might take the same amount of time to get his son to Florida where he might get better care.

The document at issue would have released emergency services from any liability if Travolta elected the Florida route.

In the end John realized the hospital was Jett's best hope.

61. I dont believe that's eyeliner....if you look at young John Travolta, her had eyes just like that. He and his wife suffered a huge loss here, stop picking the incident apart...they had nothing but love for Jett. Time wasting, small town rumor type gossip is so sad.
I love John and have since Grease first game out. He is a caring, sweet and talented individual. I have empathy for his loss.

62. I agree with the 3rd commenter, he just didn't want his son treated by a real doctor, and wanted him to be seen by a scientologist dr. Scientology demands every aspect of your life and decision making. It is probably what made him want to go to Florida, where his "drs" are.

63. To muley: your post @ 8:27PM on Jan 27th 2009 asked us to correct you if you had something wrong...well, you did have something wrong, just not what you thought.

"if, in fact, jett had a week pulse..." by a week pulse, are you suggesting he had pulsebeats that took 7 days between beats? See, there's "week", defined as a 7-day period; then there's "weak", the opposite of "strong".

Being concerned does not excuse you from literacy; just because a word SOUNDS the same doesn't mean it MEANS the same...for instance:

wood or would, as in Would you like this wood table?

seen or scene, as in Have you seen the scene that takes place in the haunted woods?

There, they're, and their...as in they're going to put their belongings over there

Spell check won't catch it, because they're properly SPELLED, just not properly USED; there is no UsageCheck program to install on your computer, You're still required to use your mind (Oh look! another 2 soundalike words that don't mean the same thing!) to tell the difference

64. It's easy to criticize a decision someone makes. Personally I would have brought up that idea of flying Jett back to the US. His Dr.'s were here and probably the Travolta's felt better having him in the US. JT ended up making the decisison it was better to take him to the hospital on the island anyways. But you can't fault him for even bringing up the ideal of flying him to the US. I would have done the same thing.

Some people here are bring up race, religion and ever thing else. But the fact is you had parents that cared for there kid and was trying to do EVERYTHING they could in there power to save there kid. And for those that criticize them traveling at all with him, get need to get a life. They were traveling with him! Not leaving him at home.

And again NOT ALL SCIENTOLOGIST only see Scientology Dr.s. That is just plan stupid. I personally know many Scientologist that go to Non-Scientology Dr.s. I'm one that is a Scientologist and My GP in not a Scientologist. And my religion does not say you can't see a Dr when needed.

I don't see that JT did anything but think of all the option to help save Jett.

65. The distance between the airport and the hospital is the same.Bear in mind that flights plans would have to be filed and probally the plane fuelled, also seats would have needed to be removed to accomodate the stretcher, all taking valuable time, so the hospital was the obvious choice.
I really am very sorry for JT and family but how can some of you blame the Bahamas for what happened to Jett, were they supposed to be there watching when the ones responsible for his care were not? The true question is how long did he lay in that bathroom before help was called? I do not think any Bahamians were his care givers!!
I agree what was done was despicable in trying to extort money from them but do not blame the whole country for what a few greedy people did.
These people will have their day in court and hopefully will get the maximum time allowed by law in Fox Hill Prison.

66. Some of these comments are so very cruel to parents who have loss their child. I am always amazed at the lack of compassion some peope have for others. I have seen people show more empathy toward animals than humans. My heart goes out to the Travolta family. Losing a child has got to be devestating!

67. I understand John Travolta's wanting to fly his son to Florida. He was trying to think of anything and everything to save his son. I would have also been concerned about a 45 minute drive to a medical facility that was not in the US, and whose doctors were not familiar with Jett's history. I don't think his reaction was unreasonable. His decision to let him to be taken by land to the nearest hospital is to his credit because it probably took a huge leap of faith that he was making the right decision. To second guess him at this point is cruel, especially as it seems the poor kid was beyond help anyway.

Unless you have witnessed someone close to you (especially your own child) in a similar crisis and you are the one having to make decisions under such circumstances, you have no right to judge.

69. Jett is gone. Nothing can bring him back. Who are we to judge? A child's passing is by far the worst kind of nightmare a parent could experience. I pray for the Travolta family and hope that Jett's memory will help them through these dark days.

70. Guys something stinks here. It is no way in hell I believe that Travolta was being extorted for wanting to fly his kid to Florida. I believe that kid had an injury that was very suspicious -- either John knocked the hell out of him causing a damaging injury or he was left alone and fell and hurt himself severely. The body was cremated so the evidence would be gone from furture investigation.. I believe these so-called blackmailers have photos of the injured Jett and that photo does not agree with this media-spin story that the Travoltas are trying to feed the public. Jett died suspiciously and if the Travoltas were not rich and famous they would be investigated. I really think John knocked the hell out of the kid in fight with him. Things like this happen with Autistic kids.

71. When your child is near death you do not always think rationally.

I know - I've been there.

72. Folks:

West End to Freeport = 25 miles/45 mins by ambulance

West End to West Palm Beach, FL = 60 miles/45 mins via air ambulance (not a normal flight, medical staff are on board)

Even US cities sometimes reroute patients away from the nearest hospital to the nearest trauma center. The same happens in The Bahamas – however, you have a right to request an air ambulance even if it is not first recommended by the physician. On its face, such a thought by the family is neither scandalous nor unusual.

The Travoltas were trying to do the best for their child whether you agree with their beliefs or not. Personally I would never adhere to a religion that is so restrictive re: medical care (they exist in Christian denominations too) but don’t assume that this is purely a case of a religious cover-up. It seems more like simple greed on the part of some dishonest people, but time - and the courts - will tell.

73.

I am in the bahamas . PORT ROYAL Freeport the - story we are getting from the etm and the driver was that he didnt want them to touch his son . he signed the document not to give any help - medical waver everyone or kin has to sign .. Firstly when they got there he was already dead . There are pictures circulating around the city. also the hospital is very close to that area -no way will it take 45 minutes .. they cud have driven him there if they thought it wud take to long - they are here very often they know where everything is . His plane wud have taken 15 min the most to get to florida - check the facts on his plane and its speed .

they had a pary the night before - left the son by him self - When they came to check on him the next morning he had passed away .. The 20 million was for 1- the cover up at the funeral home . 2 to pay the etm to get the paper back 3 . to have the body cremated the same day and to get the pictures back 4. the medical report - i guess it was fake . and some other things .. But .. its a sad story but something strange is going on with his religion ... THERE A LOT MORE

74. Those of you who imply that the Bahamas’ medical care is equal to that of the USA; have OBVIOUSLY not been to the Bahamas! The resorts are all glitter and glitz. Take a ride to where the employees of those resorts live and it is pure poverty! 2-3 generations live in a 100 sq ft shack, with a thatched roof and they sleep on rice mats! (95% poverty) Serious health problems requiring hospitalization and/or medical evacuation to the United States can cost thousands of dollars. Doctors and hospitals usually expect immediate cash payment for health services. Persons with serious or life-threatening conditions normally must be airlifted to hospitals in the United States for treatment! They DO NOT have the technology or ability to do more! Furthermore the life expectancy is 62 years! Bush medicine is still very common there! The idea of taking Jett to the US was NOT out of the ordinary! It IS routine!

75. As #73 mentioned, the healthcare in the Bahamas is indeed very poor compared to the care Jett would get in say Florida. This means that John and Kelly had a very good reason to have thought first it would be better to go back to Florida. As somebody else also pointed out, it would not really have taken them any longer to fly over to Florida. And finally: they didn't fly him, they eventually did just drive him, so what is everyone's problem??? The extortionists were obviously very stupid - if it was something that John and Kelly were ashamed of or had done wrong, then they would not have gone to the police - they would just have paid the extortionists.
What I would also like to mention is that some of you guys are just really funny: "Something is fishy here". Lol! Please go and find yourself a hobby or something, because it truly is pathetic to announce that things don't add up when there is no evidence that they don't....
