Jessica Alba Was Right ... We Were Wrong

Jessica Alba Jessica Alba is fuming at TMZ for calling her dumb when she called Sweden a "neutral" country last week ... even though it currently has troops in Afghanistan.

She is absolutely correct. Sweden was a neutral country ... 60 years ago.

Even though she was engaged in a debate about the current political situation in America when she advised a reporter to "Be Sweden ... be neutral" -- Alba is swinging back at critics, like TMZ, on her blog saying, "It's so sad to me that you think the only neutral country during WWII was Switzerland."

She is absolutely correct -- when the Nazis were waging war on anyone who opposed Hitler's evil rule, Sweden remained neutral and stayed out of the war. After the war, Winston Churchill referred to Sweden as "that small, coward country."

We apologize for not considering the political climate of the world in 1942 when we suggested she may have meant, "Be Switzerland" -- a country that is currently neutral.

Our sincerest apologies.

33. I think the point is that the common reference to being neutral is Switzerland not Sweden. This is common knowledge. I think she just made a little mistake (no big deal Jessica) and people are jumping all over her now. So now she has to nit pick and say Sweden is neutral too. Whatever.... Let's move on. Must have hit a nerve with her. I'm sure it's not the first time that she and/or others have questioned her intelligence.

37. I think if people read up on the two countries as Jessica clearly has not, they will find that SWITZERLAND is the true card carrying neutral country often referred to. Sweden tries to claim neutrality but sorry the evidence proves otherwise and has since WWII. Even today their claim at neutrality is a farce.

39. Before you get too down on the Swedes and Swiss, remember that American banks were financing Hitler at one point in time and Americans sat on the sidelines during the early war years, selling munitions.

41. Yeah sweden is still kind of neutral and besides, it helped Finland out a lot during the winter war and continuation war since finland was kind of losing that one... And some swedish people volunteered to participate in ww2 and the troops in afganistan probably volunteered too so there's not so much difference.

She obviously meant to say Sweden, and when everyone called her out on being a moron, she decided to Google "Sweden" and "neutral", and, lo and behold, Sweden was neutral!.............................in 1942. 45. And for anyone who was paying attention.... Sweden was NOT entirely neutral... OH NO! They evidently hid LOTS of money, art, jewelry, etc that the nazi's stole from the jews! It was the reason Germany didn't invade them.... Sweden was playing banker! Take that ALBA!
