Bart Simpson -- Drawn Into Scientology

Bart Simpson is officially cheating on Reverend Lovejoy's church -- with the one created by L. Ron Hubbard.

Nancy Cartwright -- voice of Bart and a multi-million dollar donor to Scientology -- has recorded a Scientology robocall in which she uses her famous character's name and voice to push an upcoming L. Ron Hubbard hoedown in L.A.

We called the phone number for the event that Nancy gives out, and the person who answered was surprised a non-Scientologist got the message -- thanks, YouTube.

17. Scientology is for complete fools. Let them give the cult their money. A fool and his money is soon parted. Bunch of idiots

18. As a parent, I want Mr. Groening to know that yesterday I went around to all the mom's with young kids in our neighborhood and laid out the story for them, and Ms. Cartwright's religion, and its control of a group called 'Citizens Commission for Human Rights' which not only believes kids are over-medicated (quite true), BUT also that nobody should be taking psychiatric medications (tell that to my 2 friends with ADHD kids in grade school).

As of yesterday, our neighborhood is a Bart Simpson Free Zone, and the show has been v-chipped out of the households of our kids. We are planning on taking this matter up at our next full PTA meeting and discussing the realities of Scientology and their trying to get at our children, even through their cartoons.

Mr. Groenig, as of today you've lost 12 households of viewers. By this time 2 weeks from now when the PTA meets, we expect that number to rise into the hundreds. Our kids love your show, and we'll be glad to give it back to them once you've fired Ms. Cartwright and not a moment before.

19. Boycotting the Simpsons because one of the voice actors is a member of Scientology is stupid. It's not like she's sneaking in pro-Scientology lines into the scripts. If anything, I bet the writers start throwing in lines that ridicule the cult (even more than they have done in the past). Unfortunately, people have become so used to the sound of Bart's voice that firing her is not an option - trying to substitute another actor's voice for Bart's would ruin the show. As for her producing a message for Scientology as Bart - I'm guessing that she will be getting a call from someone in Fox's legal department and Matt Groening himself soon.

20. Former Fan:

Are you not over-reacting just a bit. You sound like YOU need medication. Do you really think that 12 whole households are going to shut down production of this show by you not watching? The Simpsons has consistently been a top show for many reasons, one of which is the writing.

In my opinion it is inappropriate for school aged kids to watch this show anyway, how do they even understand the humor? It deals with topics and situations that one needs to be a adult to undersatnd. Not a 7 year old. So, by using your logic we need to have a PTA meeting to dicuss who is a bad little parent because they ALLOW their kids to watch this.
It really is geared towards ADULTS.

Let us not forget it is America. TURN OFF the channel if you are offened. My goodness, with all that energy you have why not put it towards your kids and reading a book, or go the gym, or the park district, the library, whatever. Relax, come up with a mission that has a point will ya?

Oh and by the way, ADHD drugs are given out like candy to parents who listen to other people tell them their kid has issues, they could say no to the medication, but they don't. Every time we turn around we see some new study on why we should not be druggin' up our kids.

Hyper kids are NORMAL. Even very hyper kids are normal. Common sense people. These kids won't be kids forever. We all seemed to have lived without it for decades, now its trendy to say "oh, my kids has that too!" Paenting is not easy, I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids, I know what I'm talking about here. {besides, I'M THE ONE WHO NEEDS DRUGS!!!} Yikes, dealing with kids is hard!

Join the club I guess.

22. To Mr. You need a time out:

You, sir, have nothing to back up your MISINFORMATION regarding ADHD. There are children who truly have ADHD and it is NOT normal. Are there kids who are misdiagnosed? Sure there are as with anything else. To lump all those with ADHD into the category that they are just Normal is idiotic. Real ADHD effects 3-5% of children AND adults. If it was something to do with childhood then there would not be adults with ADHD as well. The reason that some children with ADHD no longer require medication is NOT because it is fake but because the learn coping mechanisms that enable them to function without the need of medication.

Rather than spout misinformation, I suggest you read through:
http://www.chadd.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Understanding
http://www.help4adhd.org/en/about

"AD/HD is a chronic disorder that can negatively impair many aspects of daily life, including home, school, work, and interpersonal relationships."

You said "I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids, I know what I'm talking about here."

Unless those children and grandchildren have real ADHD then NO, you have no clue what you are talking about here.

Until you have walked in the shoes of those children/adults with ADHD or the parents, heck, even the teachers, do not sit there at act all self-righteous about medications.

Responsible doctors do NOT give out medication like candy.

23. Madness:

HUH?
Atheists hate now? To not believe as you do is hatin now? Wow, it seems to me you must be a 'Christian' to say such things. Besides, who said anything about Scientologists hatin' too? They are weird, but hate? Come on, you are p[oving my point to the max, maybe you need to just keep quiet huh? Don't take it so personal.

Freedom of religion remember? Even if that religion is whacky, or not. Its America, I can worship a bug if I want to.

25. Religion or not, the moment any celebrity wants to start cramming their beliefs down my throat I'll ask them personally. If I haven't asked them it means I don't give a damn.

And note to Ms Cartwright: You just do the voice for the series, you don't own full rights of the character. Might want to check with mgmt next time.

26. Wow, Nancy - way to trash your career!!! As an EX-scientologist who was posted very highly in the organization, I can tell you it's all true - Scientology is an extremely dangerous cult that will ruin your finances forever, alienate all your friends and family, and offers nothing of value in return. I think, however, they are correct about ADHD - I've seen with my own eyes all the inside investigative material, and helped dozens of families pretty much eliminate the "condition" with changes in diet, superior nutrition and a little tutoring. Sorry, psychobabblers, just because Scientology is a f****d up cult doesn't change the facts about that.

27. It's irresponsible for Networks to employ as artists people who promote this cult. It's all about how much money you waste on them and that's it.

29. What I find amazing is that Twentieth Century Fox broke the law based on recent court rulings and demanded that the voice of Nancy Cartwright be taken down from YouTube claiming that they owned her voice. TMZ really should be reporting on this as well.

30. Where was Scientology when Isaac Hayes was sick and still had to go out on the road just to survive monetarily? He took a bullet for them after the South Park blow-up, but all he received was maybe an extra floral arrangement at his funeral.
