Simpson's Excuse -- I Had an Off Night

Jessica Simpson is already explaining her reportedly bizarre, calamity-filled, lyric-forgetting performance in Michigan last night -- chalking the whole thing up to an "off night."

Her rep tells TMZ, "Jessica had an off night. She's a perfectionist and wanted to start some songs over. She always wants to give the best performance for her fans."

Jess' recent wave of bad press continued this morning when a Grand Rapids Press editor who attended the show claimed the singer forgot her lyrics, struggled with her ear monitors, mumbled through songs, fought back tears and asked her band to re-start a song.

At one point in the show, Simpson mouthed the words "I'm sorry" to the crowd.

FYI -- no apology has been issued for the years of the other shows she's done.

16. Say what you will, but Jessica Simpson is a very attractive/sexy gal who also happens to be quite likable. She just needs to focus more time and effort on developing what modest talent she does have into something marketable (hey, if Shania was able to make the most of what little singing talent she has, so can Jessica - IF she gets serious and stops chasing cupid).

18. to no. 8, just becaue you are comfortable with extra weight does not mean someone is not fat. Simpson is clearly over weight. she's not in shape either. let her deal with it and stop making excuses for your love for fat

19. Y is everyone so hard on her. All of us have bad days. The only difference is our days are not captured on tape and shared with the whole world. So she's gained some pounds. She's not fat. Give it a rest. Let the girl alone. If u don't like her music don't buy it don't listen to it don't go see her movies or go to her concert.

at least we know she was actually trying to sing and didn't have a tape going.
It's a problem with rich peoples kids...no work ethic.
normal people have to keep giving or the pay stops.
if you let your bad day effect the work, then the company has a bad day.
Obvious something threw her and she never had the experience to let something ride until business is done.
and then it kept snowballing...

When we say "Country Music"......

we mean don't be the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th letters !

Hey maybe you will get lucky and this one will commit suicide before her parents step in. Just think if that happins oh my oh my 17 -18 posts about it a day for weeks. 22. I'm no fan of Jessica Simpson's but this is down right mean. She put on a few pounds who cares. She's thick not sloppy. This is why young girls have eating disorders because if they're not a size 0 they get called fat. It's ridiculous.

23. I just hope she doesn't turn into another Anna Nicole. She's already getting chubby like her. I agree that it isn't good to mock a woman's weight but I have seen the photos, she looks large to me and she looked healthy when she was thin. This new look doesn't exactly look healthy to me, it looks fat. I like women with a little extra weight but this is bigger than what I'm after.

27. Oh please!! How can anyone of you judge her talent or her weight? At this point we are all nameless, faceless nobodies hiding behind the protection of our computers. ( I'm also willing to bet most of the people reading this article and posting comments about her weight are probably obese themselves) Stop being jealous of her -regardless of her talent or looks, she still wins! 29. It infuriates me that media as well most of you can be so cruel. I was at the show last night and Jessica Simpson is not fat by any means. After all other the hype from the media I was expecting a chubby girl to walk out on stage, and was suprised to see a fit and healthy woman. All it took was one unflattering outfit/photo and now she is "fat"? Seriously, no wonder why all of the young women in our country suffer from eating disorders and body image issues.
