Chris Brown Could Do Nine Years in Prison

Chris BrownSo why, you ask, was Chris Brown booked for making criminal threats rather than domestic abuse, given the victim -- we're told Rihanna -- had "visible injuries"?

Law enforcement sources tell us they typically book a suspect for the most serious crime they can be charged with -- it's then up to the D.A. to file any additional charges.

Given there were allegedly visible injuries, the crime of making criminal threats is punishable by up to nine years in prison. Domestic abuse is four years.

26. 9 YEARS??????????? Bernard Madoof is only facing 6 years and he robbed thousands of people for every penny they had and ruined there lives, and they want to give this guy 9 years for beating on his girl. The American justice system is garbage if this guy gets anything more than 10 days jail time for this. The way some women/men act out nowadays, maybe she deserved a beatdown.

27. blaming the victim? Are you for real? No one " deserves" a beat down except the person who wrote that post....battering is a power and control issue, and 9 years in the slammer will be good for him. he can be somebody's girl friend, let's see how he likes it. Usually the one's who dish it out can't take it.

30. Re: Post #2. Linking this kind of violent abuse to someone being gay is ignorant and incorrect. Most gay men do not have a hatred of women and all you have to do is look at the news to realize it's straight men who beat their wives and girlfriends. This biggoted thinking is not only incorrect, it draws attention away from the real problem.
