Chris Brown Could Do Nine Years in Prison

Chris BrownSo why, you ask, was Chris Brown booked for making criminal threats rather than domestic abuse, given the victim -- we're told Rihanna -- had "visible injuries"?

Law enforcement sources tell us they typically book a suspect for the most serious crime they can be charged with -- it's then up to the D.A. to file any additional charges.

Given there were allegedly visible injuries, the crime of making criminal threats is punishable by up to nine years in prison. Domestic abuse is four years.

62. i think that chris brown is amazing... and although i dont believe its right to hit a girl..... i still think theres more to it then what there saying .... for a guy to put his hands on a girl there must ahve been a good reason and me being a girl, i know that i could take down a guy... i am small but i can handle myself and i know i can push my mans buttons to but he doesent hit me its kidda the other way around.... why is it alright for a girl to hit a guy ... whats the different not all girls are weak ur judging us!!!!!! and secondly if he beat her that bad which i doubt he did why didnt see fight back cuz if a guy was beatign me i know i wouldent stand there and let him ....... and as to all her injuries why would he do that expecially in a public place?????.........i dunno it just sounds like a fishyyy story to me..... and i will always be a fan of chris hes awesome!!!

64. He handed himself in so there is no if's about the situation! And boo hoo your mum was beaten up by your step dad, stop looking for sympathy, what has that got to do with you being a woman beater? Surely it would make you less likely to do it as you have seen the affects! He should not get away with this!!!! I loooooved chris brown but not any more. I hope rihanna has the sense to dump him and to press charges, she, although i dont particularly like her, deserves to be treated better, no one should have to go through domestic violence.

66. Chris's actions represent a cycle of violence. He grew up in an environment where he watch his mother systematically abused and beaten for years. This is where he learned this behavior. It's a very sad situation. I don't wish jail time for him but I hope the court does order some type of mandatory counseling because he will need it so he doesn't repeat this type of behavior in the future. Many studies have shown that throwing people in jail does not make things better simply because most prisons and jails fail to focus on rehabilitation and reform. Chris needs to work out his issue with a professional therapist. I hope he bounces back from all of this. He is tremendously talented and so yound to turn down such a path. I think everybody who truly wants it should be able to seek redemption.

I think that this is crazy for what chris brown did.he is not this kind of person and rihanna knows that and so do all of his fans. i think that chris brown should not be in jail for 9 years beacause there might have been a problem in there relationship that might of mad him get mad.and rihanna could have did somthing that she is not confessing about because she is scared herself. if she really cared bout him she wouldnt have called the cops of agreed with anything cause now chris browns fans will hate on rihanna and she will have less fans too.she should have gone away from him for a while maybe a week or so. then talk it out. some relationships have that problem.and if u are reading this rihanna this is what i have to say to you."you should have been a better women and not make chris get mad at you" and no hard feelings" well thats what i think!!!!!

I was feeling some pity for chris but now that i am hearing that the umbrella girl was badly beaten, i feel no pity for him.It is obvious that they were fighting like two animals but shame on chris he should have run like a mad man from that situation.There is no excuse for any human being to get that angry to beat your girlfriend to a pulp like that he needs help and i mean soon.

72. People have been locked up for way less crimes he is going down. Its not a matter of if he is going to prison its a matter of how long. And having physical evidence as they have oh man he can forget it they cant brush that aside.
