Farrah Fawcett Sues Over THAT Photo

Farrah FawcettIf you were alive in the 1970s, you either had or knew someone who had that iconic red swimsuit photo of Farrah Fawcett plastered on their wall. Now, that photo is at the center of a lawsuit.

Fawcett is suing Bio-Graphics inc., Pie International Inc. and author T.N. Trikilis, claiming that Trikilis "has falsely asserted to third parties that [Fawcett] does not own any rights in the photographs."

Fawcett says she "owns and possesses all the photographs and negatives of all the photographs taken at the photo shoot."

Fawcett claims Trikilis and Pie were telling people they owned exclusive rights to the photo. She says Trikilis and Pie have reproduced the photo and are selling it.

Farrah is suing for $100,000 minimum.

UPDATE -- We almost never put comments up on the site, but this one is too good: "I still have the poster on my bedroom wall & it still does the trick..."

61. Studio`s licenced all of her work years ago....She could have setup her own gig and image for a licenced poster?highly unlikely.COURT room law is based upon standards they have allready been tryed(COMMON LAW).Just because some court monkey say she has a case doe`snt mean she does.NO one in hollywood owns any rights to thier work as mega studios take whatever they want for free from whoever they want.Street beat SUNSET deadmans curve and beast row.row is where and when the deals goes down as any film school flukie knows.3 rules of hollywood? anyone?...court monkey?.She will drum up want ever action happens well worth the risk...she is old and had cancer...nothing to loose and could get public backing for a bale out.I wish her the best and hope hollywood honners her work by helping her with medical costs...But the court room standards of his type of case DON`t look good at all.Yes yes she could have got back all rights but that would be about one in 70 millions odds. She would still have to pay to market licence and keep those rights all these years.TMZ see the holes in this case also.BUT she should get her cut if there is still any market there at all.Elvis was worth more dead than alive so he is dead same case.case after case.SOP of hollywood built them break them down kill them off and market them forever...it is the bread and butter of the hollywood system and I don`t think she beat that system!.

63. The cost of licence and printing of a poster that is that old would be more than the market value today.I know she is a painter and artiste but do her works sell?.Everyone in hollywood is a artist that doe`snt own thier own art.Maybe after she`s gone there will be a market for one little poster! and maybe her estate will get a cut maybe!.What this WHOLE case does do is get her cheap press and back in the public eye-good move by her PR agent can it get her more money than she made in her day?no unless the PR agent and her crew sell her art works and use that pix as a painting of herself which a tog snapped for her.She should have set it all up herself used a moniter and mirror and remote switch to take the picture of herself.Than took it to her own dark room and setup her own printing company than she would own all that unless her studio contract stopped all that which most studio`s do.It would have never been printed unless hollywood owned it.I think her studio art could be her real life saver and that print may get her that free add space that her PR agent planned in the first place.COURT MONKEY???.

64. Leave Farrah alone - she's been to hell and back with her courageous battle with cancer - she's a lovely lady and a great actress i.e. "The Burning Bed" - too many people act as though they own celebrities and have a right to express their opinion about things they know nothing about, to speculate and gossip. This world is crashing down around our ears - how about concentrating on what you're going to do if you lose your job, your home and everything dear to you because of what's happening in the United States. Grow up!

65. Farrah was hired by Pro Arts to do the poster. I think Pro Arts is now Pie International Inc. The lucky photographer that did the Farrah shoot was Bruce McBroom.

God, that postesr was everywhere, T-shirts, cups, belt buckles, bean bag chairs, puzzles etc...Younger people don't realize that Farrah was HUGE back in the 70's

An image from over 30 yrs ago, still holding up today I think is pretty cool.

One of these 2 sides has the proof that they own the rights. One side will be very happy. Personally I hope it's Farrah

66. Thats why they call them studio`s and production lots.Everyone is a nobody untill the mega studio builds you a image thank TMZ trashes that image-it keep all the union working and feeds the whole system. There is no artist in hollywood only the treadmill...Great PR agency pitching her back in the feedlot.TMZ see the holes in her story But I also hope she gets some bread to pay the bills. No medical benefits SUCK!.

67. It sold over 12 million posters was taken in her backyard and by MCbroom as you said. She also sold over 4 million copys of playboy a few years later.MCbroom was on asignment for PRO ARts and only got 1,000 bucks for taking that still. He is or was a film studio still shoot TOG but back than he was just starting off.She picked the print to use out of 25 pictures taken. It could have been sold off later but thats highly unlikely. If it is still selling the for sure she should get her cut.PLayboy could do a reissue of her old playboy also to sell her some print.HOLLYWOOD should help her pay the bills no matter what happens in the court room as far as medical costs go.

69. Guess what? Ted N. Treklis died on January 27, 2009. Local rumors tell that he was broke and owed back taxes. He was a resident of Chippewa Lake, Ohio. See the Medina County Gazette obits January 30, 2009.

70. Join the crowd Farrah...So many of you idiots from the 80's and 90's do not get ANY royalties from the stuff you did....SORRY

71. I'd want the rights to that photograph also.

Who knows, what her image would be worth after her death. (Not wishing anything bad on Farrah, I hope she lives a good life for a long time) Look at all the Elvis, and Marilyn Monore stuff that's out there. Hell, years from now it could be bring some good cash in.

THAT poster is still hot after all these years

72. Doesn't anyone remember that in her hair you can see the word "Sex" subliminally written in??

73. When her time comes, this will be the hottest obit photo EVER!

74. Something in this case does`nt sound right.Millions in sells of her image and she got nothing? would indicate she never owned it in the first place.Modern female strippers who keep all rights make much more than she did.She is way to late to cash in but yes in the long run it will be on the walls of hollywood eaterys with all the greats.
