32. If only dogs could live as long as parrots. I have had pets all of my life and throughout the years it doesn't get any easier. Because I have no children, my pets were like my kids. Mickey's love for his pet is a beautiful thing, and I feel his pain.

34. Dear Mr. Rourke...

i'm sure you have better things to do than read comments from idiots on sites like tmz....but just in the off chance...

my heart really goes out to you, it's horrible losing a family member. (which a beloved pet really is...so much more than an 'animal' as some d-bags might say) i wholeheartedly agree with your statement @the globes, sometimes all anyone's got in this world is the love of a dear furry companion...i've been there before...many times. still am. when human beings let me down constantly, my pets are always there for me, not to judge me, but to love me unconditonally...no matter what.

it's extremely difficult to lose a pet, especially one that has been with you for so long....my mother has had a jack russel for 16 years!!! he's a real old timer. it breaks my heart...he's 112 or some crap in dog years. i always make a point to bring up that "we've only had my brother for 3 years longer than the dog" (my bro just turned 20). the dog is as much a sibling to me as if he were human. i think people who discredit a loyal connection with any creature that isn't human, simply aren't human themselves. it's obvious by some of the comments on this site that we live in a world of robotic, souless shells...so far removed from feeling anything human it's not even effing funny.

try to stay strong and keep in mind the great years you shared...i recently lost 2 beloved pets to old age/cancer, and i still have issues with the grief. they brought more joy into my life than most people ever will (not to sound like a total and complete cynic, but...i pretty much am) i try to just focus on the good memories, hard as it can be. i don't know you, but i think you're an awesome human being, overall. eff the media. eff d-bags with nothing nice to say....i understand you. i don't know you, but i just understand...not to sound like a rambling creepy weirdo...but i just can relate to so much of what you've been through. keep your head above water, we underdogs really need you....

35. My heart is breaking right now for Mickey!!!! For him, this dog was so much more than just a dog. Women came and went, jobs, homes, you name it. But his dog was always there for him.

Something tells me if he could, he would trade that Oscar and everything that comes with it just to have his baby back!

38. Amen HH.

When I lost my first dog 7 years ago, I was inconsolable at the vet. I remember the vet telling me that he felt the reason dogs did not live as long as their human companions was because their were so many of them & perhaps we were here to make homes for many of them over our lifetime. I find I even pray more now than I used to because I my hopes are someday I will be re-united with my lost dogs. I have lost 3 now due to illness, old age. Only because I love the joy that they bring do I get another one (two actually). I know they will be gone someday too & I have to stop myself from thinking of that day & just enjoy their love & warmth that I have today.

Good luck Mr.Rourke.

39. wow, that dog lived a really long time. My boyfriend's dog lived at least 18 years old (he was a stray that followed them home). The neighbor's shepherd mix lived to be 21. They were some OLD doggies.

40. Mickey:
It takes a real man to carry around and love a little dog. Anyone who needs a pitbull to feel like a man must have a small penis. I'm so very sorry you lost your best friend and probably a big chunk of your heart along with him. I know you're not really reading this. I'm just trying to make up for all the heartless assholes leaving comments.

44. Animals are more honest, accepting & loving than most people ever hope to be. I am sorry for Mr. Rourkes loss. Whether some ya-hoo's on here understand it or not, animals offer healing, acceptance & unconditional love in a world where people are often & usually wrongly judged based on thier looks, bank accounts or past mistakes. Humans are mostly self serving & unaware of the greater picture. I'm not saying all humans are like this but especially in Hollywood - fake is great & money rules. This is partly why our country is in the condition its in - greed.
Dog is GOD spelled backwards..animals, nature were the first things created - whether you believe creation was by big bang or as told in the Bible. Either way, I'm sorry for him & I admire his dedication & compassion to the more vunerable who walk among us.
