YAY!!! He offically won! I thought his family looked stunning, and their speech was very touching. They are so proud of their son. Please people, let them cherish this memory as their only son who has since passed away finally got the award he deserved 100%. Let it be a fond memory, not one of shame and embarassment! He was an outstanding actor, and someone who seemed like a real person. I'm sure all you haters are perfect to the bone! And EMMA, I LOVED your post. Every word was So well said!

Heath was a fine actor and a good person and such a loss to the world, and of course to his lovely little girl, who we all knew he loved with his very soul, he was awesome as joker and has lefted a body of work any actor should be proud of, I know one day the oscar will mean the world to her but it will always be sad that she didn't get to know him and won't remember him for that i too am sad.

You are an idiot. People who know much more about acting than you thought Ledger was a great actor. Nolan cast him because he thought Ledger was an amazing actor. Ledger is the only actor ever to have 2 performances on the AFI's list of the 100 best performance ever before the age of 30. Back in 2006, The New York times compared him to a young Brando. granted he wasn't in many great films but his performances even in bad films were fantastic. You do not get oscars out of sympathy, if you did than brandon Lee and Aaliyah and Bernie Mac and River Pheonix(all who died before their movies came out) would have Oscars which they don't. Just because you don't like him doesn't change the fact that he was an amazing actor. If the likes of Nolan, and Sean Penn and DDL and Blanchett and Ron Howard and Scorsese say he was great(they said thid before he died) than he was. End of story.

Your stupidity is amazing. The M.E confimred he died of an fatal mixture of docter prescribed sleeping pills and anxiety pills, he even took the right dosage but the mixture caused an allergic reaction that killed him. Over the last 30 years over 50 actors have died before their last roles and not even been nominated for an Oscar. Ledger won because he was brillaint in the role and he was a great actor in general. Let your bitterness go, it's not Ledger's fault your life sucks.
