Celebrity Justice
Charles Barkley Is Going to Jail

Charles BarkelyHope they've got XXXXL jumpsuits in AZ, 'cause Charles Barkley is officially going to jail.

Barkley just pled guilty to 2 counts of driving under the influence and pleaded "responsible" to running a stop sign for the December 31 incident in Scottsdale.

Barkley was sentenced to 10 days in jail -- but will only do five if he completes an alcohol education program. Barkley was also fined $2,000.

Barkley will begin his sentence on March 21 -- but it's unclear if he will serve time in Arizona's famed Tent City Jail, where they make the inmates wear pink.

As for the gun cops say they found in Barkley's car on the night of the arrest -- no charges were ever filed.

17. Uh, he didn't get "busted" for having a gun because Arizona is an "open carry" state. That means you can have all the guns in your car or home that you want and are allowed to wear them openly - unless it's a private establishment that prohibits it. You only need a permit to carry a "concealed" weapon. I vividly remember having lunch at a Perkin's in Arizona and some old cowboy came in wearing his six-shooter on his side, plain as day. He sat down and had a peaceful lunch, same as everyone else. It's only in dumbass California that people think gun ownership = criminal.

24. I dont think TMZ has their facts correct. AZ does not have any 10 days serve 5 with education. It is 30 days, serve 10 with education for extreme DUI (over .15) and 10 days serve 1 with education. As of September 26, 2008, the law changed to be 30 mandatory days for extreme and 10 for non-extreme, no time off for education. I dont remember when he got his DUI. Unfortunately I learned about all this the hard way. The prosecutor told me that the judge cannot create their own jail time, it is mandated by AZ law. He also will get work release since he is gainfully employed, which means out in the morning, back at night for the days in jail. This is usually done in Tent City, but since he is a celebrity, I am sure the jail will be full so they will release him early. He also has to do MADD meetings where they show the tragic accidents where young people get killed from drunk driving or drivers.

PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

25. Actually it depends on who is using "plead",bushliquor.Lawyers use "pled" in legal form, but the Standard English allows the use of "plead" in writing(but pronounced "pled")...just like "read"(past tense) is pronounced "red".

26. in arizona he'll do the full time. celebrities never get off early in az, dmx i believe is currently in the tents. also the tents only make you wear pink if you're in the actual prison part of it. not the tents where most inmates are dui's and get to wear their own clothes.

27. This is not "california celeb justice , strikes again!" This happened in Arizona, and also the sentencing guidelines are pre-set for DUI's.
