Morgan's "Friend" -- He Was Drinking Before Crash

Morgan's FreemanThe woman who was injured in a car crash with Morgan Freeman last year claims the actor was boozing all over town before he got behind the wheel.

According to a lawsuit filed today in Mississippi federal court, Demaris Meyer claims on the night of the crash, she first met up with Freeman at dinner -- where she noticed "throughout the course of dinner and afterward drinks were consumed by Freeman."

Meyer then says she left dinner and met up with Freeman and others at a friend's home. She claims Freeman "had at least one more drink" while there. She claims Freeman then invited her to stay at his home for the night -- guaranteeing her not only her own bedroom, but her "own house." She says she agreed.

Meyer claims at around 11:30 PM, while Freeman drove her to his home, Morgan lost control of the car and "ran off of the right side of the highway." Meyer says she suffered a broken left wrist and right scapula, a torn labrum in her right shoulder and numerous bruises and lacerations.

At a press conference today, Meyer said she and Freeman were "just friends" -- despite widespread rumors that she was his mistress.

Meyer is suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, permanent disability (short term memory loss) and additional damages.

33. If she has short term memory loss how does she remember he was drinking throughout the night, or any of the details of that night? People want to make money and grab their five minutes of fame.

34. sounds like this woman has NO common sense what so ever. She got in the car with him when she states she new he had to much to drink. This goes to show there are people out there who will do anything for money and their 15minutes of fame. She should be sued for stupidity.

35. Well. . . . .HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You watch someone consume a high content of alcohol throughout the course of several hours, and then YOU make the conscious choice to get in a car being driven by THEM????? I don't care if they promised you the moon honey, there's a short circuit going on somewhere in your own "home"!! I mean, really. C'mon now!!!
Maybe with the economy being what it is, you weighed the pros and cons and decided that you were willing to take such a high risk and ride with him, or there's that short circuit thing goin on! And then add in the fact that you might get your three minutes of fame if your name is connected in some small way with a (ANY) celebrity! He shouldn't get off without some kind of "punishment"/fine, by no means. But you shouldn't be able to make such a ignorant CHOICE, and then sit back and rake in as much of the dough as you can. Ignorant, sad, and pathetic! Geez!!!!!!!!!!!!

36. There has to be some personal responsibility here. She knew he was drinking and still chose to get into the car with him. She could have driven, or SHOULD have told him not to drive. They are both lucky he didn't kill anyone, otherwise her story would be a little different. She could have some liability knowingly letting someone intoxicated drive. They are both idiots, she shouldn't get any $$$.

38. She should be lucky that she is alive to talk her little scratched wrist, if he was as drunk as she says he was. She is an idiot. And she will probably be rewarded for her stupidity with a hefty paycheck. Of course he should not have been behind the wheel.

39. I'm surprised an attorney would even take her seriously. She has no case whatsoever. In fact, Morgan should sue her for slander. Can she prove he was drinking?

40. ok so your suing the guy for wrecking YOUR car. It is stated that you say you noticed him drinking throught out dinner and the rest of the night. One question why would YOU give YOUR car keys to someone you say has been drinking all night. I think its pretty messed up that you want to sue someone for wrecking your car for being drunk when you seen them drinking all night and still voluntarily gave that person YOUR keys to drive YOUR car......so i guess it just leads to the question: Why couldn't you drive your own car and let the person who has been drinking all night ride as a passanger?
