91. o, Maria is an idiot. Chavez is not a dictator or a killer. Maria needs to go to google video and search “The Revolution will not be televised” It exposes the military coup backed by the US, attempted to be sold to the Venezualan people by Private TV channels after the State TV was knocked off the air, by anti-democratic forces loyal to the US Oil Companies.

The accusation Chavez is a killer was a deliberate fabrication from the 2002 attempted Coup of Chavez’s democratically elected Government. The US Government and Private media accused Chavez supporters of firing on Anti-Chavez demonstrators with a camera angle of a Chavez supporter emptying his handgun towards the direction of the Sniper fire incoming on the Pro-Chavez group. The Privately owned media and Pedro Carmona; Opposition leader lied to the world saying Chavez supporters were firing on Opposition Marchers on the Street below. What the media didn’t show you was other Camera shot, with the street below EMPTY. With this media deception in place and State TV off the Air, Pedro Carmona and a handful of Military Generals threatened to Bomb the palace unless Chavez resigned from office. Pedro Carmona undemocratically declared himself President after Chavez surrendered but refused to resign as president. Pedro Carmona was then thrown out of power 24 hours later when tens of thousands of Venezualans gathered outside the presidential palace demanding respect to the Venezuelan Constitution and Chavez back! The Presidential Guard then revolted against the undemocratic US backed Government of Pedro Carmona and Chavez was returned to Power.

UNBELIEVABLE HUH? IT really happened. Like I said watch the Documentary “The Revolution will not be televised” on google video by Irish Filmmakers KIM BARTLEY AND DONNACHA O’BRIAIN. The camera crew captured everything and were in the palace during the entire Coup in April 2002. If you care about what is real and fabricated, history or lies, you will educate yourself about what happened in Venezuela in April of 2002. Start watching at 23:23 for the Coup

94. Dennis, from comment #91, I'm glad you're able to google a video and THINK you get it all. I live in Venezuela, I don't need a video to know what's happening around me, so if you don't know more than what you saw in that GOVERNMENT SUPPORTED DOCUMENTARY... shut the hell up, you're offending millions of Venezuelans. HE IS A MFCK KILLER. I'm a student and I've been in demostrations where the National Guard, and the Metropolitan Police have shot at us, under his command; I've seen how he takes over land; I've seen how he gives guns to criminals in the slums to defend his "revolution"; I've seen him insulting the opposition, our women, and mocking us; I live in this country that you've seen through a googled video, I know how the chavistas have bought votes in every single election, under the nose of the military; I lived how my girlfriend's mother was fired from PDVSA, even though she went to work every single day of the general strike, and she was forced out at gun point.
Of course it is a dictatorship, because he does not respect the people's desire. For instance, in our state, Miranda, we voted an opposition candidate for governor, he won, he is our governor, but immediately after the elections, Chavez decided that the governor was not going to control hospitals anymore, because he was part of the opposition.
The same goes for our Mayor, the Mayor of Caracas. Since the opposition won the elections, the Metropolitan Police is under direct control of the government, and the Mayor's Office was taken by armed chavists groups, under the supervision of the aforementioned Metropolitan Police.
Maybe you don't quite get all of this, and I can go on and on, but don't dare to defend something that you don't understand, that you haven't lived, because you're not here, you don't have a clue. We're suffering more than you imagine, because to have a sort of normal life you have to be with Chavez, and express it outloud, and dress in red. If not, you're not part of his Venezuela and your rights stop existing.

Anyone that understands Latin-America's political history and has a pinch of common sense would know that Hugo Chavez is better for his country than any of his predecessors in recent history. Mr Sean Penn is a fine actor and an honorable and respectable human being who knows that patriotism is more than cheesy slogans and symbols made in China. Mrs Alonso's mediocre understanding of politics, as her acting skills, is now a public record.

101. She is absolutely right. In the 1910's the country that was in danger of falling to totalitarianism was Russia. In the 1930's it was Germany. In the 40's it was Korea. In the 60's it was Cambodia. In the 1980's it was El Salvador. This decade it is Zimbabwe and the next decade it will be Venezuela.
Those who cherish their "progressive" inclinations had better withdraw their support and start condemning Chavez if they don't want to be on the absolutely wrong side of history.
