TMZ knows who triggered the fight that left Rihanna battered and bruised and Chris Brown an accused felon -- it's Brown's manager.
Sources tell us the woman who left the three-page text message on Brown's cell phone is Tina Davis. Davis -- who turns 40 this month -- was rumored to have had a relationship with Brown when he was 16. Brown and Davis have denied it.
Law enforcement tells us the text message to Brown talked about hooking up later -- and it totally pissed off Rihanna. She slapped and hit him and he then brutally fired back.
The detective's affidavit refers to the text message as being "from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with."
Davis could not be reached for comment.

Did anyone hear that When Rihanna told police that it was violence before that it was here that had slapped Brown at first and he never hit her back. Rihanna needs help becasue she is the abuser, unfortunaly he didn't get away in before he wanted to kill her.

I watched Oprah Winfrey comment to Rihanna that if a man hits you just once he will hit you again. Chris or his lawyer want Rihanna to testify. I'm now choosing sides but a manager should strictly be businessssssss 16 huh that considered rape.

It seems like RiRi had a hitting problem, its not right that he beat her like that but stop putting your hands on people on then that will not happen. TMZ I am surpirsed that the information of the other two prior incidents, when Rihanna hit him first did not come out.
