She DID say you could see Russia from Alaska. Granted, the exact phrase "from my house" was all Tina Fey but here's a link to where she got the inspiration. Not quite the exact quote "from my house" but close enough to understand why she's mocked so much for saying it.

Since this is a Hollywood entertainment site, let's talk movies: Know what would be cool? A movie about a small town mayor and Sheriff collaborating to prevent rapes from being properly investigated, because somehow, someone very, very close to the mayor was committing them.
