Revlon: Is Rihanna a Flawed Covergirl?

RihannaRevlon has secretly hired a huge polling company to find out if Rihanna is hurting its competitor, Covergirl.

An online survey is circulating by the folks over at Harris Interactive. The survey -- which we've learned was commissioned by Revlon -- features a Covergirl commercial for mascara. It then questions people if they are aware of the person in the commercial (without saying Rihanna's name), if they've heard about her in the news lately, if they have an opinion about the person and if they feel the person is "an appropriate spokesperson" for the product.

The obvious implication here -- are women pissed off that Rihanna got back with Chris Brown and therefore would be less likely to buy Covergirl products? That's what we're thinking.

We confirmed with Harris Interactive that the poll is a "proprietary study by Revlon" -- translation: no one was supposed to know Revlon was doing recon on its competitor.

We spoke with someone at Revlon who said she'd get back to us. We're still waiting.

21. Let's look at the facts here. Both RiRi and Chris are major bad asses. She struck him, he beat the crap out of her. IN BOTH INSTANCES, this is assault. Then she hooks back up with him! This is a young woman with every bit as bad judgement as he has. Violence like this isn't acceptable whether you are male OR female, period. These are two major losers.

23. It isn't that people are angry that she's still a Cover Girl. It's just that she's become a distraction. Had she broken off with him, that would be one thing. The fact that she's recording a duet with him one month after he beat the crap out of her is disgusting. Seeing her on TV on a Cover Girl ad smiling and dancing around knowing what happened and that she's back with her abuser in total denial makes me cringe. I support them breaking off their business relationship.

24. Revlon needs to dump her as fast as they can. She has already cheapened their image. People are already calling them "COVER-UP" because of her. She needs to be replaced by someone who will enhance their image, not link it with domestic violence.

27. I took this survey yesterday with Harris Interactive (what can I say, I'm unemployed and bored). I was shown an Almay commercial and asked the exact same questions about the woman in the Almay commercial (who I didn't recognize, she's a pretty model). I don't think there's a story here; they are asking about all of the competitors' commercials and spokepeople, not just Cover Girl.

28. Covergirl should scoop up on this perfect opportunity with Rihanna. She's been physically abused and has covered it up quite well with make up. Regardless of what anyone thinks of her, no one deserves to get hit. NO ONE! For Covergirl to drop her would be a bad move professionally on their part. After all, their name says it all.
