Revlon: Is Rihanna a Flawed Covergirl?

RihannaRevlon has secretly hired a huge polling company to find out if Rihanna is hurting its competitor, Covergirl.

An online survey is circulating by the folks over at Harris Interactive. The survey -- which we've learned was commissioned by Revlon -- features a Covergirl commercial for mascara. It then questions people if they are aware of the person in the commercial (without saying Rihanna's name), if they've heard about her in the news lately, if they have an opinion about the person and if they feel the person is "an appropriate spokesperson" for the product.

The obvious implication here -- are women pissed off that Rihanna got back with Chris Brown and therefore would be less likely to buy Covergirl products? That's what we're thinking.

We confirmed with Harris Interactive that the poll is a "proprietary study by Revlon" -- translation: no one was supposed to know Revlon was doing recon on its competitor.

We spoke with someone at Revlon who said she'd get back to us. We're still waiting.

31. In this country we are innocent until proven guilty! Well that is what I have always been led to believe! Leave these kids alone and let them work things out. Obviously they are not listening to us so let it go!!! Just because she "supposedly" was beaten (again-innocent until proven guilty) doesnt make her stop loving him overnight. Give it some time and all parties will come to their senses.

32. Cover Girl is waiting until this trial or plea deal is over. Then, if it is clear that she will stay with him, they will cut her lose. Right now it's not clear what exactly is going on or going to happen. She hasn't even been photographed with him. They do not want to look like they are stepping on someone when they have already been humilated. It's an issue of timing. If she stays with Brown though, no one will want her endorsing anything.

She is a beautiful girl. Very exotic look. When she gets her life together and regains her a stronger image, she will pick up endorsements again if she wants them. Good times come, go, and come again; everyone loves a good "comeback" story. What she'll have to do is work hard to out-live this incident. That will take time and good projects to broaden her image. If I were her, I'd move forward into acting lessons like she planned. No one photographs as well as Rihanna. I'm sorry but she has amazing bone structure....she should also go forward with her charity she started and take anger management. If she works on herself, she'll be fine in the end.

34. Come on, people. She is the victim here. Her self-esteem is shot. The relationship won't last, this will happen again. Those of you who blame her for going back to Chris have never been in an abusive relationship, so you don't know. It takes the average woman in an abusive situation 7 times of leaving before she actually leaves for good. You are not helping her by accuing her of "going back to her man". You need to encourage her and let her know that you will be there for her. She'll come around, just give her time. Tina Turner did it, and look at her now.

36. To "By Wrong On This One": I'm thinking if Harris Interactive did anything less than show you alternative competitors' ads they would probably get into trouble. It would be the equivalent of the police showing you just one photo of a perp and asking, "Is this who hurt you?" or offering just one guy in a line-up. (I think I'm starting to understand why you're unemployed...)

He loses endorsements ( I loved the double mint commercial ) ........... She is still the face of Cover girl and Gucci?? Um whats good for the goose is good for the gander............ 45. Yes, Cover Girl should discontinue any more Ad's allowing Rihanna to represent them. If they are in their right minds they will stop the Ad's because Rihanna has many young fans and she is sending out a very bad message to them that it is ok to be abused and do nothing about it. You stop her Ad's and Music and then maybe she will testify against Chris Brown.
