Revlon:

Is Rihanna

A Flawed Covergirl?

3/14/2009 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0312_rihanna_covergirl_ex-1Revlon has secretly hired a huge polling company to find out if Rihanna is hurting its competitor, Covergirl.

An online survey is circulating by the folks over at Harris Interactive. The survey -- which we've learned was commissioned by Revlon -- features a Covergirl commercial for mascara. It then questions people if they are aware of the person in the commercial (without saying Rihanna's name), if they've heard about her in the news lately, if they have an opinion about the person and if they feel the person is "an appropriate spokesperson" for the product.

The obvious implication here -- are women pissed off that Rihanna got back with Chris Brown and therefore would be less likely to buy Covergirl products? That's what we're thinking.

We confirmed with Harris Interactive that the poll is a "proprietary study by Revlon" -- translation: no one was supposed to know Revlon was doing recon on its competitor.

We spoke with someone at Revlon who said she'd get back to us. We're still waiting.

Here is a list of other people who need beating: Lady GaGa(mostly for the name), Jennifer Aniston, Ann Coulter (it would be a challenge even for UFC guys), Meryl Streep (for "Mamma Mia") That is all for now.

Wow. Revlon actually paid to get this kind of information? How pathetic the company is to be so out of touch with it's consumers!
I don't know many women who'd buy a product endorsed by a woman who was beaten by her partner. The damage is done, Women have enough to cope with in their lives, and some of us have had to cut back on our spending habits. That DOES include make up products. If I don't like the spokesperson for a product I won't buy it unless it's really cheap. I mean, super cheap, less than a dollar cheap.

Ann....you beat me to the punch(no pun intended!!!) I was thinking the same thing...she can really use the coverup now...hmmm maybe covergirl's new slogan should be " so good that it even works for Rihanna!"...and maybe they can name the new shade C Brown.

aww

If covergirl is Procter and Gamble, then that's no surprise they would support a weak woman like Rihanna with woman beating Chris Brown. They are an animal testing, cruelty company. google it and see for yourself. They've been caught testing on dogs in the past. They have absolutely no morals.

People have to understand that Rihanna is not a little American
princess, she is Caribbean and so she is
vindictive, violent, argumentative, a bully and posessive. She
planned this nicely. She has ended Chris Brown's career because she
is a crazy jealous bitch.

Chris Brown's fans are going to make her life HELL.

She told the police a bunch of
lies at the scene of the crime and when she has to stand up in court
and put her hands on the bible we will see which version of the story
she will tell.

I hope Gods ready to forgive her for her lies.

You Chris Brown fans are saying anything to get him free. Disgusting! Rihanna is an idiot for going back to CB after the way he humiliated her in public.

Why bring God into this when CB was swinging his fist? He is innocent person who was frame. If you want to place blame place it on the neighbors who call the cops.

She was beaten up by her boyfriend and supposedly is still standing by him. And how is that different from any other abusive relationship? The abused usually stand by their significant others. It's a vicious cycle and it's up to Rihanna to walk away from him. She will when she's ready but until then people should understand it's a difficult decision to make. If you haven't been in an abusive relationship you don't have the right to put her down for staying with him. Yea, he's a jerk and is in need of some serious jail time and therapy but she's still a beautiful and talented singer who shouldn't be punished for being human. I say Covergirl should keep her. I don't buy products based on who is being paid to promote them. And don't believe everything you read in the media!!!!

Chris Brown's career would be over if she didn't go back to him. The problem? She loses alot more then what he's gained in return. This cycle will continue everytime it happens, and it will happen again. The Boston Globe reported that out of 200 teens (aged 12-19) 44% think she's at fault. Her running back to him perpetuates this kind of thinking. She could have come out of this as an independant woman and a guiding light for so many women trapped in the same situation but instead reverted back to the days when a women's job was to look pretty and make sure there's a hot meal on the table when the bread winner gets home. Matbe this wouldn't have happened if they rented a 4 door sedan and she sat in the back seat where a "good" women belongs. Covergirl could save some money it these times of econmic hardship and dump Rihanna and rerun some some of the ads from the 40's. You know the ones, all dolled up and pushing the vacuum around the house.

If she is back with that woman beater, Cover Girl needs to drop her ass. If cover girl supports her then I will no longer purchase from this company. She is not a good role model and shame on Cover Girl if they keep her. Chris Brown will beat her ass again

What all of you idiots don't realize is that Rihanna is the real abuser and liar. It's been reported repeatedly that she's been abusing Chris for the longest, and she bust a bottle over her brother's head. Please, nobody ever answers these questions but I am going to ask you all as well-If Rihanna was truly a victim of domestic violence would she, by her own admission, have the nerve to punch Chris first. She has admitted-it is in the police report that she hit him first. Now if she was in a violent rage, all over him in that car, how could he walk away? AND THE MAIN QUESTION I HAVE IS HOW IS SHE A VICTIM IF, AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY PUNCHED HER REPEATEDLY, SHE TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND SAT ON THEM? What about that cries victim? Not a single thing, neither Tina, nor Robin, nor Pamela would have ever done that. Yes, I'm sympathetic to a real victim but not for a vengeful liar who will do anything to get back at her boyfriend just because she's mad. All of you know that the picture does not show a woman who was punched repeatedly. The fact that she took those keys out of the igntion shows that the fight was on, and every one of those bruises could have easily come from a struggle in a compact car. Rihanna is lying and all of you stupid idiots are going to see it very soon.129. This is Rihanna's police statement:

Dec 31, 2008. At a Club In Paris Rihanna told investigators that the first incident occurred in Europe three months ago. It was a verbal dispute, which led to RIHANNA SLAPPING Chris Brown. In self-defense, Chris put her up “against the wall” and told her to calm down.

2008.12.08- In Barbados The second incident occurred when the couple was visiting Rihanna’s family in her native Barbados back in August 2008. She described the incident as a verbal dispute, and added that no one was assaulted.

An onlooker said she slapped Chris several times.

Oprah did a show on women abusing men a few years ago, it is in fact more common than men abusing women.
The media have only shown one side of this story and left out the details about Rihanna attacking Chris on several occasions.

There is a petition on 'petition online' to highlight this problem titled:

""Rihanna's Abuse Should Not Go Unmentioned""

Please sign the petition.

DUMP HER, COVERGIRL!!! true, you never want to victimize the victim but there are probably only two scenarios here...

1. she's violent towards him as well.

2. she's an immature, horrible role model and has no business accepting such highly visible ad campaigns which in large part are targeted towards a very young demographic.

covergirl has many spokesmodels of various ages but the rihanna mascara "eyelights" ads run in 17 magazine, teen vogue, us weekly etc... i don't read vogue or cosmo but i would guess drew barrymore, queen latifa or one of the older models represents those mags. rihanna is placed in the younger demographic mags... possibly in all mags, but definitely the young ones because that's her target audience.

like it or not, she signed up to be a role model when she cashed that covergirl paycheck and with that comes a certain responsibility. one she obviously can not handle right now. taking him back sends the wrong message and IMO, she's not helping matters at all by being seen out partying every night until 4:30 am... giving off the impression that everything is just fanf*ckingtastic.

at least lay low and away from him for a while.. make it LOOK as though you aren't a completely weak, brainless, doormat of a victim.

this whole story makes me sick.
