Details of Natasha Richardson's Ski Accident

3/17/2009 1:31 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

natasha richardsonWe now know what happened to Natasha Richardson on the ski slope when she was critically hurt yesterday, suffering a brain injury.

We're told she was having a private lesson on a green slope (beginner) at a ski resort in Quebec, Canada. She fell -- we're not sure why. There was no blood and no sign of impact. Two ski patrollers came to her rescue. When they got there she was conscious -- smiling and making jokes.

An hour later, Natasha started to complain of a headache and said she didn't feel well. Someone from the resort called 911, and she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Natasha was conscious when she left the resort.

Was she wearing a helmet? If she was and she was still this seriously injured, I would like to know the helmet brand she was wearing.

If she was wearing a helmet and taking a private lesson on a beginner hill, there is no way she was going fast enough to hit her head and get seriously injured.

If she was not wearing a helmet, she could have been going very slowly, hit her head and suffered a catastrophic injury.

This is so bizarre.

I have skied at Mont Tremblant . I did not find it to be friendly to new skiers. I hope she makes it thorough this.
God willing.

I just read on Huff Post that Ms. Richardson is brain dead and the family is treating the situation as a death.

It sounds exactly like an aneurysm. I had a brain aneurysm rupture 3 years ago and from what they have told me, I acted the same way. I don't remember any of it, but I was told I complained of headache and was feeling sick. I also was told I was up and talking to the EMT personnel. Hopefully she will be as lucky as I am.

Get Real

Are you people serious? Your laughing at a person in a condition serious enough to warrant hospital transfers? Lots of skiers fall (some die, such as one of the Kennedys and Sonny Bono). She didn't immediately show signs of her injury, but they began to manifest within one hour. Ever heard of a concusion? Or possible more serious, something that could cause much more serious damage due to swelling or bruising. If you're so ignorant that you can't begin to imagine how serious this could be, shut up, do a little research, and save your blogging until you're aware. And Natasha Richardson is an actress, for the moron that decided to blog on someone they couldn't even identify. Grow up and get real...!

Sources close to Tony-award winning actress Natasha Richardson tell that the 45-year-old actress is brain dead, and being transported back to New York City before she is to be taken off life support.

Richardson's condition deteriorated following a skiing accident on Monday on a beginner's trail at the Mont Tremblant ski resort in Quebec, Canada.

A spokeswoman for Montreal's Sacré-Coeur hospital, where Richardson was transferred after being sent initially to nearby Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe, said a family representative was expected to release a statement Wednesday.

Richardson, who is married to actor Liam Neeson, was reported in serious condition with a head injury by multiple outlets early Tuesday.

"We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details," said Kika Markham, who is married to Richardson's uncle, Corin Redgrave. "We are very concerned."

Neeson left the set of a movie he was filming in Toronto to be by his wife's side.

"Liam Neeson left the Toronto set immediately to fly to Montreal upon news of his wife’s accident," a rep for his film said in a statement to Canadian TV. "We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family."

Neeson's reps told they had "no information at this time regarding this matter."

Mont Tremblant said Richardson fell on a beginner's trail during a ski lesson and later reported not feeling well. She was not wearing a helmet, nor was one required, they said.

"She did not show any visible sign of injury, but the ski patrol followed strict procedures and brought her back to the bottom of the slope and insisted she should see a doctor," said a statement from the resort.

Mont Tremblant spokeswoman Catherine Lacasse said Richardson was getting a private lesson and that she said she was fine at first.

"An hour later she said she didn't feel well. She had a headache, so we sent her to the hospital," Lacasse said. "There were no signs of impact and no blood, nothing."

Richardson, is the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson. She married Neeson in 1994 after they both appeared in the film "Nell." The couple have two sons.

In January, Richardson and her mother played the roles of mother and daughter in a one-night benefit concert version of "A Little Night Music," in New York.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Dont forget Sonny Bono. But he went off the path and slammed into a tree.
Watch your comments about her. If she dies then you will feel and are guilty of slander.
Cnn reports on the ticker tape she is off life support meaning she died? or recovered. Sounds like trouble.

How can people laugh at this , as poster #4 is. she is a young woman with 2 small children, and as the story indicates, is on life support. I will never understand people and their stupidity in human tragedies such as this.
