32. I like his singing, it wasn't like any of the others who couldn't pick a note. I detest that kind of singing that just goes warbling all over the place. Plus he has kind of a husky voice that reminds me of Rod Stewart. If he has personality issues I never saw them when he was on the show. Too bad he isn't making it since he won, but he DID win and he DID get the big $$$.

Zazoo, I don't know what planet you're on, but he was an absolute nightmare on that show behind the scenes, and it quickly became public knowledge, as the other idol contestants started talking. One factor in his winning the 'popular vote' was that people would rather see him win than McPhee. His unlikability factor, despite what you say, is why his success has gone NOWHERE. He was the most popular vote-getter on the show that season, through-out the entire show, period. At the time he had the largest fanbase in the Soul Patrol.

His backstage antics (we can get into the diva-ness of many contestants and winners, including Archie's notorius stage dad - which incidentally did not impede with Archie's success) did not factor into the average viewer's opinion of him, on stage he translated as very likable.

One major reason Hicks does not translate into commercial success is that there was nothing commercial or "pop" about him. Those who like him voted for him for that reason. He was the anti-idol, a throw-back to a Van Morrison type in an age of superficial pop and poser rock, rather than a bubble-gum pop cookie cutter Idol (Just like 19 Ent. tried to do with Kelly, until she left Clive and did what she wanted to and made "Breakway"). Many, including those in his large fanbase never expected him to go on to commercial success.

If you expected otherwise then I don't know what planet your on, and you obviously didn't get the Taylor Hicks Season 5 phenomenon, mate.

37. I went to see 'Grease' here in Los Angeles and he was in it in a really small role--one song and 5 minutes on stage. Thank god for that, he was excruciating with his geeky dance moves and harmonica playing! After the play was over he got on stage to sing one of the songs from his new CD and it was like we were trapped in a taylor hicks concert and couldn't get out fast enough. People were streaming up the aisles to get out and not have to hear his song. Pretty bad when you just want to get to your car and go home at 10 pm on a Friday night!

Why America made him American Idol I"ll never know, and its funny since im more then sure the majority of those that voted for him probably never bought his music and would never go to his concerts. 40. A Taylor Hicks performance is 100% NOTHING like how he was on Idol. When I went to his show for the first time I thought I'd see the AI version of Taylor. He is NOTHING like he was on Idol. He's MUCH better. As for him being an arrogant jerk, I've met him many times, and every time he has been an absolute sweetheart. It's actually very amusing watching all the drunk middle/old age women at his show making fools of themselves.

41. This guy's career has been over for a long time. I wonder how he pays his rent. I think it's time for him to come out of the closet like Gay Aiken did when his career tanked. I don't even consider him a D-list celebrity. He couldn't get on Dancing with the Stars. He makes Jessica Simpson look like Julia Roberts. My advice to him is to reinvent himself as a gay icon.

43. I wish I was there, I would gladly have given them $100 for one. Taylor has had no trouble selling out in every other part of the country. I went to several sold out shows back east and traveled a long way to get there.
It seems it was only a handful of tickets they had left anyway. So what? Hes sure not the only one. He can't help it if the west coast is nuts. And by the way, I have been hearing over and over on this tour about what a nice guy he is. Looked pretty nice at the breast cancer marathon yesterday.
I dare you guys at TMZ to go and come back and TRUTHFULLY tell me he was bad. Because he is one hell of a performer and hes playing with some fine. fine musicians. You wonder why they would want to be seen with him, don't you.
Don't worry the place will be full and they will be having a freakin blast.
