Josh Hartnett 911 -- Abdominal Pains

Josh HartnettJosh Hartnett was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital early this morning, ending his night at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood.

The 911 call came in at 12:53 AM and the caller said abdominal pains were the issue.

The ambulance picked up Josh at about 2:00 AM. He walked on his own power -- no stretcher was needed.

UPDATE 12:57 PM We're told Josh was in "excruciating pain" last night, because of gastrointestinal issues. We're told he may have picked up some sort of stomach virus while shooting a movie overseas, and he's had ongoing stomach issues as a result. He's seeing a specialist today.

31. Oh my baby boo. Josh is too adoring to be in pain. I loved him especially in Hollywood Homicide! Shout out to Harrison!

32. Honestly though, sometimes things can be worse than they seem. If it was some kind of bug he picked up over seas it could be very serious. Any kind of abdominal pain should not be ignored, especially if the pain is localized and there is some rebound tenderness. You could be looking at peritonitis, which can be caused by numerous things including a burst appendix. Also could be nothing, just gastroenteritis. However, anything that causes severe pain should not be overlooked. And, if you believe your pain warrants a ride to the ER it is your decision. It is a good sign that he was walking on his own. However, I walked into an ER and sat there for 8 hours before they realized my appendix was on the verge of bursting. You just never know.

Glad it wasn't a REAL emergency or anything like that, I think even Domino's Pizza can beat that time, even at that late at nite! Gotta love LA.

37. This kind of thing can turn out to be fatal. My husband nearly died from what started out as severe abdominal pain (not appendicitis or diverticulitis, either). My thoughts and prayers go out for Mr. Hartnett.

43. apparently he was released from the hospital today for ''gastrointestinal problems''. i really hope that the media will look into this story more, because if for some reason it is drug abuse that caused this visit to the hospital, hopefully the pressure of ''everyone knowing about it'' will cause him to get help. just sayin'.
