Jamie Foxx on Thin Ice Over Vodka Suit

Jamie FoxxJamie Foxx has been sued by a guy who got severely injured on a Vodka display and claims his dream to become a brain surgeon has been put on ice.

Here's the lowdown. Foxx hosted a party in 2007 at Social in Hollywood. William Presler says in his lawsuit he was hired to work the bar -- made completely of ice.

In the suit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Presler claims drunk guests dropped their drinks around the bar and glass shattered everywhere. He claims he tried cleaning it up but was told to leave it be. Presler says the manager preferred kicking the glass along the side of the ice bar.

At the end of the party, Presler says he slipped, fell and landed on the shattered glass, severely injuring himself. He needed 170 stitches to repair the damage to the severed nerves in his left hand.

Presler says he obtained a neuroscience degree and was forced to abandon his career to become a brain surgeon due to the damage in his left hand.

31. That sounds like a crack of bull. He is just trying to get money out of Jamie because he is rich. It clearly states in the story, and i quote "Presler claims drunk guests dropped their drinks around the bar and glass shattered everywhere. He claims he tried cleaning it up but was told to leave it be. Presler says the manager preferred kicking the glass along the side of the ice bar." Key words "The Manager preferred kicking the glass along the side of the ice bar". Meaning that the Manager is at fault, not Jamie. Im pretty sure Jamie can get off this one with a decent lawyer, its a no brainer. And secondly, how can these "injuries" effect you from becoming a NEUROSCIENTIST, but don't effect you from becoming a BRAIN SURGEON? Half his story is fishy.

32. I don't get why Foxx is getting sued. He was only hosting the party. The correct party to sue would be the bar and possibly the mager from that night since he pushed the broken glass to the side instead of cleaning it up.
I think he should sue for the cost of the medical bill and basic pain and suffering - but to say that they dashed your dreams of being a brain surgeon? Seems to be overkill.
Not a bad case - but needs to loose all the fluff inless they want it thrown out.

33. You can operate with robots now, maybe they could do the work for him... DAMNNNNNNNNN, I was gonna be a heart surgeon.. Can't do it due to arthritis in my thumbs. I guess I'll sue the makers of Tylenol because their pills aren't relieving my pain!

34. Okay kids, here's the deal.
The bartender's injury is covered by worker's comp.
Suing Foxx as a 3rd party as allegedly negligent is going to be all uphill on breach of any duty and on causation.
On damages, the would-be brain surgeon/neurosurgeon is going to find there are a lot of surgeons out there who can still operate with missing digits ( missing thumbs and fingers) and with impaired sense of touch, etc..

Moreover, unless this guy has stellar grades and a stellar MCAT test result he was unlikely to get into an American medical school and, afterward ,unlikely to get accepted into any neurosurgery residency. That means he would not be doing neurosurgery anywhere in a hospital in the USA. These kinds of claims are bogus and old news, right, Harv? We hope his lawyer sees this comment and does not invest any more time in this suit. Foxx's lawyers can send me a new Porsche as a professional courtesy and as a quid pro quo for the free advice. Contact Harv for my e-mail address, thanks.

36. Idiots. Bar tending is a great way to get money to pay for a doctoral program. You can pick and chose your jobs that work with your class/research/internship schedules (that RARELY PAY)! I know it because I'm doing it myself.

Foxx doesn't necessarily need to fork over for this, but the establishment's insurance.

37. He was a bartender. He got injured. This happens every single day to hundreds of people. And his point is? That he had to make a career change due to a life event? And ? So? I wanted to be many things but have had various setbacks. This generation (and I'm only 30!) needs to learn that the world does not owe them anything . . they need to learn to roll with the punches and learn that the things that DO happen are either a) caused by you or b) an accident/act of god . . . and therefore deal with it or (a better option) . . . (figure it out or I'll tell you but keep you in suspense!!!!!)

38. I'm suing TMZ! Last night while writing obnoxious comments about Susan Boyle on the TMZ website I inadvertantly stabbed myself in my only good eye with a fireplace poker. Obviously if I wasn't on the TMZ WEBSITE writing obnoxious and vile comments about Susan Boyle while trying to lite a fire.. and masturbating... I wouldn't have lost my only good eye and ruined my career chances with the Rhode Island Transit Commission.
NOW... I'll have to settle for my second choice in careers... Major League Umpire.
I'm suing TMZ AND Harvey Levin for seven hundred trillion dollars!!!... FYI to Harvey... I'll settle out of court for one billion.

42. That is not Jamie's fault..He needs to go after the manager, or whomever is the manager's boss. One question: What the h--- was he doing tending bar when he has a neuroscience degree anyway? Ulterior motives, methinks!

45. This case will be settled out of court for a few million dollars. It's about time celebrities are held accountable, and maybe next time they'll use their own brain. Nothing was mentioned about the bartender being drunk. I honestly think people who post on here should read the whole story before commenting because it makes them look stupid. Tending a bar at a celebrity event could have paid this man more then most bartenders make in a month or two. This guy will walk out of this a millionaire once it's settled, and then maybe somebody can tell Jamie that he's old news and nobody gives a damn about his career anymore. He's finished as an actor .
