Lane Garrison Settles with Crash Victims

Lane GarrisonLane Garrison has reached a financial settlement with the parents of the 17-year-old kid he killed in a drunken car crash back in 2006.

We've also learned the former "Prison Break" star has reached a financial settlement with one of the survivors of the crash, Michelle Ohana.

The exact amount that he paid both parties is confidential.

Garrison is still behind bars, serving out his 40 month sentence for vehicular manslaughter and two other alcohol related charges.

The parents of Vahagn Setian had filed a civil suit against the actor last year -- demanding payment for wrongful death and gross negligence.

Ohana, who was 15 at the time of the crash, was injured so badly, she spent the following 2 months in a wheelchair.

18. He's an asshole.Just like all the young Hollywood and rapper stars that they think they are the tops.It is a sick mentality.Shia Leboeuf, this asshole,Chriss Brown a lost generation of very concided, very stupid young people that make to much money for their own good. The sick part is that they can buy judges, juries and attorneys and get away with murder.3 years for a life,a young man's life.Shameful and disgusting.Anybody else would have gotten 15 years, this asshole because of his money got 3.This is why the USA is going down as a nation based on laws.A lie and a shame.

24. I agree #8 Amy. He owned up to it, is paying for his crimes literally with his money and prison-wise. this is as it should be. But at least he didn't prolong the families pain by claiming "not guilty" or whatnot and go for all sorts of appeals which I am sure he probably could have. Hopefully, he will be able to salvage his career. Hollywood can be fickle over who they choose to forgive, though. My brother and I have been catching up on random series and have just finished Season 1 and 2 of Prison Break. He was good in that. It takes a certain level of talent to be a character the fans love and hate at the same time. He has potential for a solid career if he can manage to move on.

25. Its interesting how most people only see one side to this tragedy. Yes while its horrible that a life was taken, most of those people who see the one side, seem to take no notice that Lane has shown remorse and has paid the price for his actions. I don’t believe it’s a case of him feeling sorry for it now, you could see that he was showing that from day one. A few have pointed out that he plead guilty from the get go and didn’t fight it with appeals and the like, which he could have done, would a non remorseful person do that? Just sit there and take it if they truly believed that they weren’t in the wrong. He understood what he did was wrong, and he accepted the consequences.

He’s served his time, he’s paid compensation to the families affected. What more is there to be done? How is being give more money going to help the family, it won’t bring their son back. Is Lane spending the rest of his life in prison going to change the outcome? I know most people will think he deserves it, but the man who owns up to his mistakes and pays the price deserves a second chance.

The other side to this is that those kids should have known better, even though they are essentially just children, they should have known, but the way it comes across is that they were too enthralled in the fact that Lane was a public person and be damned the consequences of anything that might happen. They need to take responsibility as well.

No one single person is to blame here, no one single person made a mistake. Everyone involved made the mistakes. It was a horrible accident, there was no intent to hurt anyone.

While I am saddened for the families affected, so was Lane and he will have to live with one horrible mistake for the rest of his life.

I believe he’s served his sentence, he’s paid the price.

I support Lane, and will continue to do so.

26. even though lane is an actor, that will not stop him for feeling remorse over taking anothers life.
your career cannot possibly stop that kind of sadness, and i am appalled that some people say he was only acting at how sorry he was.

its very sad he didnt get parole.
i feel he could be doing much more good outside working with various foundations to help stop drink driving and stop this kind of incident happening again.
lane seems like such a gent, he really deserves to be free now.

i hope he continues acting, he is a wonderful actor.

27. So why doesn't TMZ call this guy a moron like they called the Mathers kid? Is it maybe because they liked garrison a bit better?

30. Thank you #27 for such a fair & balanced comment. Thanks also to Amy and the other LG supporters for speaking out in Lane's defence.

He is genuinely remorseful and accepted his punishment like a man. It's time to let him move forward with his life. I'm sure he'll do his best to honor Vaghaun Setian's memory by putting his talents to good use in educating people on the dangers of drunk-driving in the hopes of preventing other families from facing a similar tragic situation.

Lane is a thoroughly decent young man with a good heart. He deserves to be given a second chance!
